Haunted house lolly or a 5p ice cream from the Ice Cream Man with a bubble gum at the bottom. I might practice the brotherhood of man dance later.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 10/01/2020 14:03

I'm only 2 so I'd like any sweeties...the stickier the better!

LesLavandes · 10/01/2020 14:03

I'm 13 and we're all wearing 'Maxi' dresses to my parents' 25th wedding anniversary dinner. I loved my Prawn Cocktail, Chicken Maryland and Black Forest Gateau

squashyhat · 10/01/2020 14:03

I am 15 and frying sunbathing with my friends in an old empty concrete swimming pool at school (this will probably out me!). Ambre Solaire liberally applied. Or lying awake at night cos it's too hot to sleep listening to Radio Luxembourg and longing for David Cassidy to find a reason to come to Kent and notice me Grin.

PenelopePissedstop · 10/01/2020 14:04

Please bring me a nana rain hat. My sister is just about to get sunstroke. This will save me a lot of time picking bits out of my hair when she projectile vomits in about an hour.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 10/01/2020 14:08

I am only 2 and absolutely roasting, so my Mum has let me sit in the washing up bowl full of water in the garden. Naturally I am properly dressed for the occasion - I have a hat on. Later, I will take the hat off and sit in my wooden wheelbarrow wearing only my wellies.

Guineapig456 · 10/01/2020 14:08

I’m looking forward to Starsky and Hutch tonight, we’ll probably get saveloy and chips for tea. Then mum will pop over to the corner shop for a quarter of sweets as a treat. We’ll also have some lemonade or tizer and plan our trip to the lido tomorrow. Me and my sister can’t wait, we have matching swimsuits with little frilled skirts. She likes to roll down her white knee high socks so it looks like she has a giant polo round each ankle. I’m too sensible for that!

IncrediblySadToo · 10/01/2020 14:13

Oh - ok but hurry back because mum will be out in a minute, with the homemade ice lollies for the whole street who are all in my large rectangle paddling pool (about 12 of us!)

Life was THE BEST EVER in ‘76💕

cerys · 10/01/2020 14:15

I’m nearly 8 and my brother is a baby. We’ve got a paddling pool in the garden but it’s full of insects. Dad bought some stuff to kill them but it turned out to be dangerous to children and pets. We also have a dog.

Mum is a bit stressed as we are having an extension done on the upstairs of the house and the builders were knocking out the window whist brother, dog and I were in the back garden.

Dad will take us all to the park when he gets home and there’s a kiosk selling lollies. I like mivvis and rocket lollies but I don’t like Fabs.

ConcentricCircles · 10/01/2020 14:17

Great thread!!

I'm stood melting into puddles in the only - so it seems - metal phone box on the holiday caravan camp waiting for my boyfriend to call. I'm sulking 'cos I'm 16 and wanted to stay home whilst the parents went away.

But no. Parents are V strict and I could 'get up to anything'!!!

katewhinesalot · 10/01/2020 14:27

I'm at a caravan park near Yarmouth and Dad has bought a Yorkie Bar. It's only just come out in the shops and it's the first time I've tried it. The bar is massive. We are sharing it whilst sat in the little play area next to the site shop. It's delicious.

Genderwitched · 10/01/2020 15:14

The mere mention of cider lollies has brought it all back.

I wouldn't want to go back there though, I spent a lot of time lying around and listening to Janis Ian at Seventeen, it was all quite painful Smile

IntermittentParps · 10/01/2020 15:18

I was only two in 1976, but remember so much from this thread (fruit salads, Black jacks, barley twists, Funny Feet, Jackie mag, Rainbow Crystal…)
Did food/trends hang around longer in those days?

IntermittentParps · 10/01/2020 15:19

Sorry, not clear, point being that I have memories from the early 80s identical to these!

SciFiScream · 10/01/2020 15:19

I'm not born yet. I'm not even a twinkle in my parent's eyes.

Pan2 · 10/01/2020 15:22

I'm a 15 yr old boy, too cool for skool, and modelling myself on Bryan Ferry.

We're in Prestatyn N Wales and ladybirds are massing on any white surface.

And it's hot.

angemorange · 10/01/2020 15:23

Would like to go back for a day but the thought of going through school all over again wouldn't appeal Grin

Bananaman123 · 10/01/2020 15:26

Im out playing kirby and chap door run, fot some penny lollies in my pocket and chewing gum that has a tattoo in it. Asked for a lucky bag but told no, not fair all my pals get them

PenelopePissedstop · 10/01/2020 15:27

Mother must be cross with us she has closed the front door behind the ribbons of pvc door curtain that we full pelt in and out through all day long!

halfgirlhalfturnip · 10/01/2020 15:34

I'm 9 and we have visitors this weekend so will
probably all go to the pub at Dores where all the kids will sit in the car getting bottles of coke and packets of smoky bacon crisps passed in the window. Dad will then drive us home at the end of the night. Epic year!

CormoranStrike · 10/01/2020 15:36

I ate fruit salads and black jacks last night :)

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 10/01/2020 15:41

I'm 8 and tracking the rise in temperature on the outside thermometer hung on the garden fence next to our patio. My first cousin once removed is getting married and there are a whole lot of my mum's side of the family coming over this summer.

I have a (boy) best friend at school, and life is good. Lime juice cordial and partially melted choc digestives in the garden at 3pm. The birds are singing in the mountain ash at the bottom of the garden. Those were the days.

Lllot5 · 10/01/2020 15:58

I’m sitting in the garden with my sister learning Romeo and Juliet for her o level lit exam.

singswithitsfingers · 10/01/2020 17:27

I'm six. Can you get me an ice pop? Obviously in a really unnatural colour. I will wait until it melts and then drink it.

ssd · 10/01/2020 17:29

I've got coconut oil rubbed on my pale and freckly arms, to stop me burningShock
