Crumpets - weird and wonderful

Inspired by the weird food thread!

What weird and wonderful toppings do you put on crumpets? I'm tossing up between a runny egg or peanut butter and banana, but is there something weird I should be trying?!

Crumpets are the bomb! Have topped with fried egg for brunch or with butter and jam at tea time. Nothing weird though i'm afraid!

I hate Nutella too. Crumpets are a savoury snack in any case. McLellands Seriously Strong cheese spread is my topping of choice. Or butter and marmite.

Just good old butter and marmite here. The crumpet needs to be toasted twice tho...can’t stand a soft, chewy crumpet

God it's like an existential crisis

I just meant it put it in the toaster for the longest time setting....then when it pops up, I put it back down for the longest setting again! Perfect crumpet crunch!

Always cheese. Occasionally chilli jam underneath the cheese.

Mmmm love crumpets!

Toasted, spread with a little bit of brown sauce and then back under the grill to melt some cheese on the top... absolutely divine!

Whisk up an egg or two, a bit of milk, some salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce and grate in a bit of melty cheese. Cut the crumpets up into fingers (or don't, put the mixture into a bowl big enough for the whole thing) and dip them into the mixture. Allow the crumpet to soak it up for a while and then shallow fry on both sides until a bit brown. Delicious.
