Crumpets - weird and wonderful

Inspired by the weird food thread!

What weird and wonderful toppings do you put on crumpets? I'm tossing up between a runny egg or peanut butter and banana, but is there something weird I should be trying?!

Nutella
Peanut butter
Jam
Marmite
Honey
Chilli sauce

All together?!

I'm on a diet you bastards....

mousemousse · 09/01/2020 20:10

Cream cheese then jam on top, it's like a poor man's cream tea

kittykatkitty · 09/01/2020 20:11

Tuna melt crumpets
Beans and cheese
Peanut butter and banana
Pate
More pate 😀

myfuckingfreezer · 09/01/2020 20:12

Right, I went with cheese and marmite.

Delicious but I was a damn fool. In my eagerness to get the cheese on a hot crumpet to melt, I put it on before the marmite,

Ever tried to spread marmite of semi melted cheese? Chaos

@mousemousse I do that with a digestive biscuit and call it a mini cheesecake Grin

imnottoofussed · 09/01/2020 20:12

Lotus biscoff spread 😍

Staringatthefishtank · 09/01/2020 20:13

First one with melted cheese or egg on top (runny poached is best)
Second one with lemon curd

Perfect light two courses :)

TinyTickler · 09/01/2020 20:14

Toast the bottom side under the grill until super crispy, put tomato on top side, sprinkle of dried oregano, cheese, toast until melted.

Game changer.

Eggy crumpets

(so glad I bought crumpets and bacon earlier)

nespressowoo · 09/01/2020 20:26

I put marmite but never thought about cheese! That's a game changer!

Shannith · 09/01/2020 20:37

Clotted cream and jam. Sometimes with a few raisins betwix scone and crumpet for that fruit scone but not scone feel.

Though to be fair you could probably put clotted cream and jam on almost anything and it'd be delicious.

In warm croissants is a new favourite- even better than scones as you get a higher jam/cream ratio to the delivery mechanism.

lovelytobehere · 09/01/2020 20:38

Marmite and cheese my fav!

Cheese with crunchy beef crisps on top. Crunch them in the pack first then top it off.
Hmmmm

LawnsLT · 09/01/2020 20:38

Seafood sauce for me! But then I am strange! Grin

FruityWidow · 09/01/2020 20:39

Eggy crumpets with hot sauce.

Fishcakey · 09/01/2020 20:47

Mashed banana and black pepper.

Ohffs66 · 09/01/2020 20:53

Mindblown. Literally the only, the only thing I ever put on crumpets is butter and marmite. I'm going to have to widen my horizons it seems.

Freddiemercuarysmoustache · 09/01/2020 20:54

Eggs benidict but with a crumpet instead of a muffin.. its amazing

veryvery · 09/01/2020 20:55

Butter and marmite topped with a fried egg.

mrbob · 09/01/2020 20:57

One of the very few things that I miss from Britain is proper crumpets. Australian ones just don’t toast right Sad

iMatter · 09/01/2020 20:58

Marmite peanut butter

I don't know how the marmite folk did it but they made the food of the gods when they made marmite peanut butter and on a crumpet it is delicious

okletsdothis · 09/01/2020 20:58

Jam & Nutella
