Crumpets - weird and wonderful

Inspired by the weird food thread!

What weird and wonderful toppings do you put on crumpets? I'm tossing up between a runny egg or peanut butter and banana, but is there something weird I should be trying?!

Peanut butter
Seriously strong cheese spread
Beans and cheese
Marmite
Jam

Avocado and a poached egg, with dried chillies sprinkled on top.

If even one person on here tries the sriracha peanut butter combo - preferably the cock sriracha, not the goose one, then i will have achieved something

Pizza crumpets made with salsa and cheese.

Or butter and avocado.

Or just butter and homemade raspberry jam.

Or blueberries and cream.

Or cream and maple syrup.

I need to stop! Getting hungry but don't need more food right now!

Just had it with melted butter and mild blue cheese - naice. I much prefer bagels though

Pumper I agree poached egg is delish. Sometimes with ba few beans on top. Mmmmmm

Can I just throw pikelets into the equation? Only discovered about a year ago and, IMHO, they are way better than crumpets which can be a bit heavy/claggy. Pikelets are delicious crispy thinner versions - I have these with real butter and a sprinkling of garlic granules/garlic salt. Heaven!

Whatever the crumpet weighs I put the same weight of butter on. That’s my favourite topping.
I love crumpets. I have the Christmas tree shaped ones, square shaped ones, bunny shaped ones at Easter and the massive ones for fatties like me

In my world, crumpets were eaten with butter, or with grated cheese on top.
I just discovered crumpets with smoked salmon and horseradish sauce.

But marmite and cheese/peanut butter..... oh. My. World. I am so trying that.

I discovered a new crumpet topping and it's the absolute best-

Crumpet, butter, horseradish, smoked salmon- so so good!!

Butter, smoked garlic, maybe some spinach if you’re feeling virtuous

I've got pikelets at the moment but have to say I prefer normal crumpets, I like the contrast of crunchy outer and soft inner. Normal crumpets were called pikelets by my Yorkshire grandparents.

After many attempts I finally succeeded with homemade ones about a year ago, sadly they didn't keep very well so we had to eat them all in one morning

Always toasted crumpets either as eggy crumpets, with full English breakfast or with the following toppings:

• banana and honey
• cheesy mushrooms and spinach
• cream cheese and smoked salmon
• Nutella and peanut butter
• peanut butter and jam
• pesto and cheese
• yoghurt and mixed berries
