Please help me name my nail business

inspo · 09/01/2020 16:01

I am currently in the process of qualifying to become a nail technician. My plan is to work from home alongside my part time job with a view to building up a client base so I would like to get things in order. I know it's not the most important aspect but it would be great to get the name sorted however my attempts are a bit lacklustre

Nails, followed by Nails by

So for example

Orchard Nails
Nails by Sue Smith

Clear and to the point or boring as sin?!

Oh my nails

Happy nails

Nail envy

2 x10 nails

redbullgivesyouflings · 09/01/2020 16:08

Personally, I really like business names that are very straight to the point/simple. Things like 'The Coffee House', 'Somerset Bakes', 'Joe's Diner' etc. Classic and something I'm likely to remember.

MikeUniformMike · 09/01/2020 16:27

@Furrybootsyecomfy, I was thinking you were saying it was a rubbish suggestion Grin

To the point?
Fingertips?

inspo · 09/01/2020 16:27

@redbullgivesyouflings thank-you, maybe I should think classic rather than boring!

I do like some of the other names too. Very grateful for all of your input!

OP posts:
Allyo19 · 09/01/2020 16:29

The Nail Room at No. 64 (or whatever number)

inspo · 09/01/2020 16:31

Do you think you would be more likely to try somewhere with a quirkier name? As I'm going to be working from home I wonder if the quirkier names are more suited to an actual salon, although the space I will be using in my home will be professionally kitted out (garage conversion)

OP posts:
inspo · 09/01/2020 16:33

@Allyo19 ooh I hadn't thought of using the number instead!

OP posts:
Happyhusband · 09/01/2020 16:34

Claws for applause
Talons for talent
Finely finished fingers

cheesewitheverything · 09/01/2020 16:40

I also like classic names and I think if you might in the future have shop premises or work in someone else's salon, it's good to have your name in the title, not your address or a pun (much as i love a play on words, you'll get sick of it very quickly if it's your own business). So i think 'Nails by Sue' or 'Sue's Nails' might sound boring but will stand the test of time.

Overseasmom100 · 09/01/2020 16:45

LtJudyHopps · 09/01/2020 16:51

I go to a home salon called Pretty Polished.
I like ones that involve your name - or I do like the nails at no. 64 idea. I wouldn’t use the street name tbh.
To be honest the biggest thing for me is good social media photos. If you post dark pictures I’m swiping past! Get a ring light (even a small one), use a bright space and get some branding.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/01/2020 16:54

Marvellous Manicures

Dowser · 09/01/2020 16:57

Pretty polished
Polished to perfection
Princess nails

Don’t like anything with talons or claws in it

Something classy always goes down well.

redbullgivesyouflings · 09/01/2020 16:57

I wouldn’t use the street name tbh.

Oh yeah this is another really great point. Reminds me a bit of this pizzeria that used to be on my street. They were called 's Pizzeria, moved to another location, and retained the name which did cause a bit of confusion if their Google reviews are anything to go by.

rubywoowoo · 09/01/2020 16:57

Get Nailed

FAQs · 09/01/2020 17:00

I think nailed it sounds better for a Carpenter.

Beauty, nails etc I think needs something a bit more fluffy, but then I’ve never had my nails done or any other type of beauty treatment so I’m not your target Grin

Number64 · 09/01/2020 17:02

Who are your target customers? Is it a certain age group or aesthetic you’re targeting?

motorcyclenumptiness · 09/01/2020 17:05

The Squoval (if you're in S London and a cricket fanSmile)

Chottie · 09/01/2020 17:10

I like The Nail Room and Nails at (street number).

Anything with claws / talons in the title would put me off.
