Please help me name my nail business

I am currently in the process of qualifying to become a nail technician. My plan is to work from home alongside my part time job with a view to building up a client base so I would like to get things in order. I know it's not the most important aspect but it would be great to get the name sorted however my attempts are a bit lacklustre

Nails, followed by Nails by

So for example

Orchard Nails
Nails by Sue Smith

Clear and to the point or boring as sin?!

Thanks all, I know it's a hated phrase on mn but I'm pretty sure I'm in my 'forever home' however good points about this potentially being an issue if we moved. I do think if the address is incorporated it should be the number and not the street name

Target audience is a good question. I'm late 30's so probably 30+ is realistic but I wouldn't want to miss out on any clients so it's something for me to think about

The social media comment is really useful thank-you

Your own ideas were the best. So many 'quirky' names out there, they're tedious unless they're very clever - which none of these are!

Number64 · 09/01/2020 18:04

motorcyclenumptiness love ‘The Squoval’! 😄

My favourite so far is 'Marvellous Manicures'.

I think I'd go for a manicure by someone with a name that implies I'm just going to get a nice special bit of pampering. I don't need anything witty x

thisisallnewtome8 · 09/01/2020 18:11

Simply Polished.

TimeAfterTimeAfter · 09/01/2020 18:13

Hard As Nails
Nailed It
Nailed Down
Hail Naily

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/01/2020 18:14

Too quirky or a pun would put me off (I'm 50+). I would run a mile from anywhere with talons or claws in the name.

I like Nails by Sue, Polish Perfection, Nails at 64.

I agree that good photos on website/SM are key though, there is someone local to me whose photos are really not great (neither is the finished manicure by the looks of them).

Novia · 09/01/2020 18:16

Britain's got talons?! 😂

Divebar · 09/01/2020 18:17

I’m not really attracted to very Hollywood / Glitzy / or Sparkly looks or names. There’s a shop in my town that’s kind of covered in pink sequins on the outside of the shopfront. I Imagine they’re all huns in there. I like the “ name at 64” and Simply Polished.

olivehater · 09/01/2020 18:17

Puns etc, seem a bit eighties and naff to me. Thinking along the same lines as hairdressers. All the more current, young, expensive hairdressers seem to just be the hairdressers name or something like hair by ...,..

HarrietThePi · 09/01/2020 18:20

The Nail Room at No. 64 (or whatever number)
I really like this one.

Kneehighinshit · 09/01/2020 18:21

Nails at Number/No. ...

Bit of alliteration and you can always change the number bit of you ever move. Agree that puns or anything with claw/ talons/ pampered Princess will have me running away. Keep it simple and to the point

DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/01/2020 18:22

My suggestion was Nails by Sue.

I’m in the trade and honestly, use your name. Otherwise they won’t know it’s your company. Think of when you answer the phone. What will you say? If you are Sue and you are a nail tech then call it what it is.

I worked for other people in places that had pun names. They all said, oh I’m going to Dobby’s ....

IncrediblySadToo · 09/01/2020 18:29

The ‘Witty’ names only amuse people briefly and people rarely remember them - then they get boring & old.

I would use the street name or number - I know you think it’s you ‘forever hime’ but life has a way of throwing curve balls and if that happens, the last thing you want us the added complication of that.

Sue’s Nails - might not be giving you a thrill - but it’s not going to alienate anyone and it’s easier to remember. If you want something with a little aliterate in or something, let us know what your name or initial is.

My name would sound good with ‘Nails’. (It’s not, but it’s similar to ‘Nicola’s Nails’ - unfortunately doing nails isn’t my thing 🤣

FairyBatman · 09/01/2020 18:30

A quirky name would actually put me off unless it was very clever.

I love the squoval but it only works if you are close to the oval.

viques · 09/01/2020 18:30

Top Coat

Sue Shine

MissCherryCakeyBun · 09/01/2020 18:33

Photos.....please make sure when you take them you have rubbed in the cuticle oil Confused
Chip shop fingers my nail tech cals them and you see it loads it's very offputting

I like "nails at 46"

"Sues Nails" to me is a bit granny sounding ( and I'm granny age Grin)

5LeafClover · 09/01/2020 18:43

I like

Sue Smith
Qualified nail technician

and

The Nail Room at No. 64

Number64 · 09/01/2020 19:01

I agree with others that Sue’s Nails sounds a bit older and perhaps less sleek/fresh. (Not the Sue bit, but the using a name!)

I like Simply Polished too. It’s nice and clean and sums up the vibe I’d personally look for perfectly.

I think someone made a good point about choosing a name that doesn’t alienate anyone!

Toothypegg · 09/01/2020 19:07

N⁰ 64 Nails

Toothypegg · 09/01/2020 19:08

File & Finish

Number64 · 09/01/2020 19:09

Haha I just thought I might have subliminally influenced this but the number 64 suggestion came earlier up thread. Funny coincidence!

maddy68 · 09/01/2020 19:09

You also need to search on companies house to check you have the right to use the name (may be already taken)

Atalune · 09/01/2020 19:17

Polished
Glossy
Perfect Finish

Chattercino · 09/01/2020 19:21

Nails at No. 64
