Can anyone please recommend somewhere really nice for me and DH to go for a special occasion meal? I really wanted to go to The Ivy, but they dont have availability on the date we would like to go. Im looking for somwhere that will have a whiff of luxury, but also great food and service, where we wont feel intimidated! Our budget for 2 is around £200.

All suggestions welcome. We like all sorts of food.

Thanks in advance.

Benares do a good set menu deal and you’ll be well looked after.
Hawksmoor
I also really like meat people in Islington

Not sure 200 would be enough for two at the Ledbury

DameXanaduBramble · 05/01/2020 14:15

ElloBrian · 05/01/2020 14:15

Bentley’s?

catwithflowers · 05/01/2020 14:16

The Gavroche? Lovely food. Especially bargaintastic if you go for lunch Grin

DameXanaduBramble · 05/01/2020 14:17

200 will def not cover dinner at le gavroche. Unless you’re going for a set lunch.

Berners Tavern is lovely, and always makes for a lovely romantic meal.

Justjoinedforthis · 05/01/2020 14:21

The Orrery! It's white-tablecloth and amuse-buche style fanciness but the waiters are very nice and smiley and not snooty at all.

septemberismyfavouritemonth · 05/01/2020 14:21

The Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden

regularbutpanickingabit · 05/01/2020 14:21

Clos Maggiore but ask for a table in the conservatory. Beautiful.

catlady3 · 05/01/2020 14:22

The Nineth for French or Trish a for posh Indian.

catlady3 · 05/01/2020 14:22

Supposed to say Trishna, sorry!

SanAntonio · 05/01/2020 14:23

J sheeky (not atlantic bar bit). Fish- the plateau fruit de mer is amazing.

Might see an odd actor in there.

HeronLanyon · 05/01/2020 14:24

Another vote for Benares (wish they would stop giving scarfs to women!) also Cinammon club or Margot (which is a bit buzzer) ??

jakeyboy1 · 05/01/2020 14:25

The ones in The Shard. I've been to Oblix East which is quite laid back and bar like but lovely, there are other more formal ones.
