ineedtoknow I remember the face drawn on back one! Didn't seem like a troll at the time but who knows?

LongstantonSpiceMuseum · 05/01/2020 22:27

CAROL, DICK AND THE FREE HOLIDAY (most recent thread):

@ineedtoknow I also remember the back one, that was really disturbing, it was posted in 30 days only board, and the OP never updated to say she was ok. I hope she found out who it was. Could have been a troll I guess, was a bizarre story.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 05/01/2020 22:49

There was a woman who had a few threads as it was a long saga.

She'd seperated from her husband but he wouldn't move out. She had a lawyer and she went back to work but set up an office in a summer house type thing. Then she had a broken/injured ankle.

She seemed to stop posting and I wondered if he ever moved out or if she had to go with the children in the end.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 05/01/2020 22:56

So the one about the Barbour coat is fake??? Why on earth would someone go to the effort of making up that story...i just dont get it Confused

CooCooCoo · 05/01/2020 23:00

Coatsprotectionleague, I always wonder!

Followed your thread @TheLittleRedToothbrush, so glad you are doing well. Best of luck Smile.

2020maddog · 05/01/2020 23:25

The one where the op's 'friend' had accidently messaged another friend, slagging the op off.

She, eventually, tried to turn everyonee against her, and accused op of sleeping with her husband, as she'd 'seen' Facebook messages.

The op was very dignified dealing with it all! I guess that's why it stuck in my mind.

MintyMabel · 05/01/2020 23:33

Mumsnet usually delete those threads pretty fast.

Possibly the funniest thing I've read on here in a while.

Lolimax · 05/01/2020 23:44

A couple....
One from about 5 years ago and the DH committed suicide. The lady was welsh (mama something?) and his family became very difficult. If you're reading this I often think about you and hope you're ok.

Another was a lady (odd socks?) who was homeless and spent a lot of time on buses. She'd been through a lot but was alway kind in her comments.

And another a few months ago when the ex wouldn't bring the DC back.

Weenurse · 06/01/2020 07:20

@TheLittleRedToothbrush glad you are doing well.

I remember a lovely poster called Jennywren. A few years ago she posted an absolutely heart-wrenching post after her cancer diagnosis. She spoke about how she couldn't bear the thought of leaving her DC. I never saw another post from her, but I've been told since (on similar threads to this one) that she did indeed pass away. I think of her often. Sad

ChilliandLemon · 06/01/2020 23:31

@closetotheaction I remember her. So sad.

The one where the OP worked at a car garage as a receptionist and was friends with the other receptionist who was getting married. The other receptionist invited everyone to her wedding apart from the OP.

The one where the OP had a group of friends (four of them possibly?), one of them was getting married and made them all bridesmaids apart from the OP.

The one where the OP didn’t get invited to a family wedding, was it her nephew getting married I think? And yet they all regularly went round her house for Sunday dinner etc and I think the brides family were all invited to the wedding but the nephews family hadn’t been?

Was the one where the OP went to dinner with friends and the invites got handed out in front of her and they had only invited her OH and not her, a troll?

The one where the OP ate out the food waste caddy as her DH didn’t buy enough food. For some reason her update was that she’d married him.

I always wondered about softzilla (I know it’s been said it may have been a troll), it just seemed so far fetched!

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/01/2020 23:43

That goddamn Victorian safe.
Was it ever opened? What was inside?

TreeLinedMotorway · 07/01/2020 02:21

@Lolimax I often think of ?OddSocks too. I really hope her life has improved.

TheNameGames · 07/01/2020 02:30

This one and whether the OP booked the flight or not

That thread where the OP had a walled garden, and the new neighbours thought it was shared and had french doors fitted opening into her garden. I know she was getting planners involved but no idea how it ended.

ElspethFlashman · 07/01/2020 12:15

That was a troll, I believe.

Thread still open so I don't think it was:

So was the Barbour jacket thread a troll?

HerRoyalFattyness · 08/01/2020 20:34

OddSocks is doing ok for those interested.
I'm in contact with her every so often.

TreeLinedMotorway · 08/01/2020 20:48

@herRoyalFattyness thanks for the update. So glad to hear that.

I’m the “For goodness sake I have a crush on the builder” op - just jumping on to give a quick update Grin. Not that it’s very exciting!

CG (chatty gaffer) and I did get together but it didn’t last very long. However - we seem to have developed one of those relationships where we can’t live with each other, can’t live without each other! We’ve settled into a sort of fwb situation, and it’s lovely! He’s become a good friend and I hope he remains in my life for a long time!

The builder I actually had a crush on to start with did date my dd but again, that didn’t last long (possibly because she took herself off to Australia where she still is!). But he and I have become good friends - just friends. We text all the time and sometimes I ask him over for Sunday lunch! We occasionally meet for drinks - we had a fab night out just before Christmas where he introduced me to lots of his mates. I wondered what people made of our group - about 8 youngish lads, and one middle aged woman! It’s so strange when I think how shy I was around him in the beginning - I couldn’t even look him in the eye.
