What has YouTube taught you to do?

Dd (9) and I did some art tutorials on YouTube today. I'm terrible at drawing but my cat sketch did not look like a creature from the deep, so win for me. I very rarely use YouTube other than for SNL sketches if I want to kill a few minutes. But obviously it's potentially a useful tool, so what have you learned to do using online videos?

How to replace the door glass and seal on the washer.
How to replace tumble dryer hose.
How to do winged eyeliner (still can't do it very well though because of shaky hands)
How to sew a rolled hem on a sewing machine (still prefer to do by hand)

Dd1 taught herself to tie a tie using it, and is currently using it to help her learn to play guitar before her birthday later this month when she'll be starting lessons.

Erm; probably loads more tbh but can't think of anything...

But, it might be able to solve dd1's Spotify/Alexa problem so I'll take a look now!

lucysmam · 02/01/2020 20:49

Ooh, thought of something else. Many many years ago, I used it to replace a cracked phone screen. Not sure I'd dare now as phones are so much more expensive (and I put the answer/hang up buttons back upside down) but was very pleased with that one!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 02/01/2020 21:10

LBOCS2 your post gave me a flash back to a time I was babysitting my niece and nephew a million years ago, pre YouTube. I got so fucked off trying to collapse their double buggy I ended up throwing it, in a rage, still fully formed in the boot. Luckily I was driving my sister's gigantic people carrier that day Grin

All sorts!

Replacing a broken laptop screen, unblocking a drain, fixing the telescopic handle on my wheely suitcase, removing a jammed toilet seat, curling my hair with straighteners, applying bronzer, pruning a rose bush....if there's something I can't do, YouTube will have a tutorial on it somewhere.
