What has YouTube taught you to do?

Dd (9) and I did some art tutorials on YouTube today. I'm terrible at drawing but my cat sketch did not look like a creature from the deep, so win for me. I very rarely use YouTube other than for SNL sketches if I want to kill a few minutes. But obviously it's potentially a useful tool, so what have you learned to do using online videos?

I speak other languages, and YouTube is great for this. There is so much content to learn other languages, and to practice the ones that you know. I have also learned about some useful things from other parents or people who have special needs, there is a YouTube or with three real palsy who does make up. I have never wearing make up because it’s hard for me to do, I’m going to buy a plain nail polish and try to start to paint my nails. Cerebral palsy

Loads of things - organising stuff, Kon mari, minimalist holiday packing, cooking, vegan cooking, drawing, make up, how to cut my hair, crochet, metalsmithing, yoga.

There's been loads more but I just can't think of them right now.

I'm a teacher and so over time, I've also used lots of the educational clips that are on there in lessons. Often, if there's a book I want to show the kids but I can't get a copy from the library, there are 'read alouds' on You Tube.

@SyntheticPumpkin I learned to crochet from a channel called The Art of Crochet by Teresa. It seems she no longer has a channel but there are still plenty of playlists of her videos. The only thing to bear in mind is that she's American so refers to stitches by different names to those on UK patterns - I haven't found that to be an issue though.

Play guitar, specifically Smiths songs! This time last year I was a total newbie (got my first guitar for Christmas last year). Now I can play the songs of my youth (although Johnny Marr need not be concerned I'm about to put him out of a job, I'm still fairly ropy!). Learning to play guitar in my 40s has been a huge confidence boost. DH is a brilliant guitarist and has taught me loads, but YT has filled in the gaps.

I fixed my tv.

Established from the manufacturer that the fault was the motherboard but they wanted squillions to replace it, plus the cost of sending it to them, so I found a replacement on eBay, removed the old one and fitted the new one, total cost about £16.

However, Youtube also suggested I bake the old motherboard in the oven for ten minutes. That didn't work....
