Here's the beast

What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought?
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/01/2020 10:17

Loving the crocodile!

My salt lamp is from Urban Outfitters.

I've thought of a couple more:

William Morris duvet set - it was massively reduced in the sales and makes getting into bed feel so decadent. I feel like I need to buy some silk robes and have long permed red hair again.

All Saints leather jacket - got my first one a few months ago and already planning my next. So heavy and soft and gorgeous.

Fantasie bras - no other brand fits me as well

SagelyNodding · 02/01/2020 10:22

My ancient Kindle (the first one I think) - gets used every single day, battery lasts forever!
Vaio laptop
Hopefully my Lumea, but I'm only 2 treatments in...
My cat obviously!

Obligatorync · 02/01/2020 10:30

@RussellTheLoveMuscle he or she is GLORIOUS.

Happymum12345 · 02/01/2020 10:31

Hotel chocolate velvetiser.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 02/01/2020 10:37

Multiple 2/3 metre long charger cables for my phone and tablet, scattered round house and in work bag.

Wherever I am, no need to be hunched over near plug sockets now.

(Ditto paying for the USB wall sockets to be installed, no need to scrabble round for charger plugs now)

PenguinsOnParade · 02/01/2020 11:08

@bsc - I got mine from Home Bargains and I haven't seen them there recently but they're just like this one (only difference is that mine are silver).

(Hope this works as a clicky link, I never have any luck with them!)

A Bio Comfort Classic Therapy Massager.

I have Fibromyalgia alongside age- related arthritis and it's no picnic.

This machine enables me to walk when my foot muscles have locked up. Massages my excruciating headaches so that I can function, and has generally allowed me to have a better quality of life than I think I would have done without it.

hereiamagain84 · 02/01/2020 11:36

My kitchen island - was only around £40 but use it every single day makes cooking and entertaining so much more enjoyable!

I do love my salt lamp too.

Also my Fitbit

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 02/01/2020 12:05

There are lots of things I wouldn't like to have to live without, e.g. dishwasher, cordless hoover, but in terms of unnecessary things which I absolutely love and am very glad I spent £££ on …

(1) the hairy canine currently sitting on my feet, who always carries a faint whiff of fox poo and sheds like a bastard but who LOVES me ALL THE TIME;

(2) an original painting by Sean Durkin which makes me smile every single day.

(Also, my beautiful engagement ring, which links me and my wonderful DH, but he paid for it so it doesn't count!)

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 02/01/2020 12:07

Though I now want a salt lamp too ...

ActualHornist · 02/01/2020 12:08

My Kindle. I

NoMoreSexyTime · 02/01/2020 12:15

My kitchen aid. I love it, wanted one for years but couldn't justify the cost, left some money by a relative and purchased one and use it a lot.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 02/01/2020 12:48

Instant Pot - so handy and we use it almost every day.

Leather case for my phone, with pockets for debit cards - means I don’t have to take my purse out with me, or a bag, which feels very freeing.

Kobo Clara e-reader - a recent acquisition, and I’m loving being able to browse my local library e-book catalogue on it, download books and read them in e-ink rather than on my tablet.

Kindle Paperwhite - means I’m never without a book (or 500) and I can read at night without disturbing DP.

Alexa in the kitchen for music, radio, timers, shopping lists, weather etc.

Beanbags for DD(5) in her room and sitting room. She gets so comfy!

WTF0ver · 02/01/2020 12:58

On a practical level my Mooncup. Such a blessing after years of wearing messy uncomfortable STs and tampons.

On a fun level, all of the foreign travel I've enjoyed. Best thing I've ever done and hope I get to continue to do it.

JulesJules · 02/01/2020 13:03

Coffee machine. It's a de Longhi bean to cup machine and it's brilliant

tiredsleepysleep · 02/01/2020 13:08

@Candlecandle it's just from Ryman stationers... it's just a big heavy one like you'd get in an office... I love it!! Grin

LittleMissnotLittleMrs · 02/01/2020 13:18

Am I allowed to say critical illness insurance, which paid off my house 3 years ago after brain tumour diagnoses?
Pet insurance - had to euthanise my beloved girl cat after amputating her leg when her cancer aggressively spread.
My car (love love love it!)
My sewing machines

I got a hot water sausage (aka long hot water bottle) for Christmas. Love it!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 02/01/2020 13:30

Oh yes, my Mooncup! Totally life-changing.

Funnyface1 · 02/01/2020 14:10

My house. Worth every penny and more probably. I must be missing something with these Himalayan salt lamps, I don't get it at all...

Candlecandle · 02/01/2020 14:18

@tiredsleepysleep thank you! That's brilliant just what I wanted, a really heavy one!

I thought of another thing...paying for hypnosis for a phobia I had (I was skeptical) but it was incredibly liberating. I realised just how far it had reached into my life.

spiderlight · 02/01/2020 14:24

My salt lamp dissolved. I had it for a good few years and loved it, and then one day it just randomly started to turn into a slimy mess and huge bits of it started crumbling off.

KnowBetterDoBetter · 02/01/2020 14:44

Big items: my MacBook (after using broken old laptops throughout my first degree and working at home 2 days every week, it's actually life changing)! And I love my Fjallraven backpack.

Small items: adore my new spray mop, am mopping about 10x as much as I used to as it's so much easier than lugging around a big bucket.
