Has anyone enjoyed their Christmas?

I keep hearing sad/stressful/angry stories this Christmas, so wanted to spread some cheer. Tell me what you've enjoyed about Christmas this year!

I've loved having a long walk in the woods with DH and doggo, loved my presents and just having a nice relaxing time at home playing games, having a drink, eating and lots of laughs. We're not doing anything special or out of the ordinary but I love it.

GentleBen · 25/12/2019 18:49

Me! MIL has kept the wine flowing, made me a special sausage free stuffing (pork mince makes me cry) and my son has had the time of his life! I'm very lucky to be part of such a lovely family and extended family!

FruityWidow · 25/12/2019 18:49

Wonderful. We slept in, breakfast in bed, long park walks in the sunshine, snooze on the sofa, just finished big dinner and I'm sat next to fire with a cat on my lap waiting for Gavin and Stacy special on the telly.

Lulu1919 · 25/12/2019 18:51

Yes !
Lovely morning opening gifts with our two grown up daughters and their partners...
We all went out to lunch
Dropped one set at 'in-laws' for the rest of the day and night
Other set went home
Seeing them all again on Sunday 😊
We came in had coffee and opened a few more presents....husband is now asleep and I've had a nice deep bath with some news bath smellies and soap.
Will wake him up in an hour or so for nibbles and to give him his presents from me.
Tomorrow we have planned a long walk by the sea before he's back to work Friday .

Hollylolly28 · 25/12/2019 18:53

Yes I got engaged! I've had the most perfect day with the kids and never felt happier 😁

lazylinguist · 25/12/2019 18:56

I've never not enjoyed Christmas. Not once! I'm at my sister's with dh, the dc, my parents, my dsis, bil and their kids. Having a lovely time!

Spied · 25/12/2019 18:58

Lovely.
Up at 5am with DC asking if 'he'd been?'.
Opened stockings then downstairs for the pressies. Pils called in for half an hour then got dressed and headed to my parents for dinner.Lovely food and company, plenty of reminiscing and photos.
Back home at 5 and I'm currently watching dp put together DC's toys/sets and eating chocs.
Looking forward to the soaps then it's bed for me.

BestIsWest · 25/12/2019 18:58

Lovely day. We were all ill with flu last Christmas so were determined to enjoy this year.
Lovely presents, adult DC are home which is a treat. Everyone helped make lunch and now we’re all either asleep or playing with gifts.

We’ll watch Call the Midwife and Gavin and Stacey then have turkey sandwiches and a few drinks.

AuntieMarys · 25/12/2019 18:59

Yes I have! Me, DJ and adult dd. Presents opened at 12. Lunch out in restaurant at 3. Currently necking champagne and eating Lindt balls.
Big 10 mile walk tomorrow

BestIsWest · 25/12/2019 18:59

*despite the boiler breaking down and only having intermittent hot water.

Baguetteaboutit · 25/12/2019 19:02

Yes. It's been brilliant. Xmas Smile

Grobagsforever · 25/12/2019 19:05

I was having a good one but the appearance of the words 'doggy' (DOG! SAY DOG! Ffs) and 'I wakened' in the first three posts have restored my rage levels.

I WOKE FFS

weegiemum · 25/12/2019 19:07

Been good here. The 5 of us and mil. And my disabled brother and his support workers came for lunch, which was fabulously coordinated by dh! I have had too much to eat, a wee bit much to drink, got fabulous presents and everyone has been great, even the teenagers didn't fight! Dd1 was working yesterday and has gone to bed, ds is watching tv with his dad and Grannie, dd2 has popped round to her boyfriend 's house and dog is out for the count having nabbed the leftover sausage stuffing! I'm sitting in the quiet in the kitchen with probably my last glass of wine, door open as the house is an oven and cracking about on my phone. It's been a lovely day, was especially nice to see my brother. Even more chilling out tomorrow!

Fairylea · 25/12/2019 19:11

We have had a wonderful day. Its just me dh and our two dc aged 16 and 7 - youngest has autism and learning disabilities. Youngest is obsessed with gadgets and old games consoles and we found an old Nintendo de bundle with 20 games included on eBay for £18 and he is absolutely over the moon with it! Priceless Grin

We had a lovely turkey dinner and went for a walk in the park. Dd and dh then fell asleep on the sofa and ds and I played board games.

Couldn’t ask for more. Xmas Smile

We’ve had a lovely day , went to dsis for dinner , dog behaved himself impeccably , everybody seems happy with their presents , now back at home with a cup of tea .

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/12/2019 19:13

Loved it! So chilled out which is very unlike me, usually I'm too highly strung trying to make it perfect. Dinner was 40 mins late and the world is still turning.

Happy Christmas all!

WalkiesPlease · 25/12/2019 19:17

It has been surprisingly lovely. This year was just us siblings as we are all single, NC and our beloved Mum passed away in the summer. I think we did her very proud. We all cooked together, had a lazy breakfast and a slow walk and carried out all our favourite traditions. Fab day and I'm going to get pissed under a duvet on the sofa now!

TabbyStar · 25/12/2019 19:20

Yes, my DF died a few weeks ago so it was our first one without him, so determined to make it okay for DM. Had friends and family round, nice presents, nice food, nice chats. My DM had a little cry when I took her home but said she'd had a lovely day. I'm now relaxing with DD and her BF and waiting for Gavin and Stacey.

Bickles · 25/12/2019 19:23

Pretty good
DS7 woke at 6 and we did stockings - all very happy.
Downstairs for a few more nice presents and pain au chocolate
Long soak in the bath
At 11 my parents and MIL appeared. Had drinks, then champagne then smoked salmon starters, more presents including the amazing one from my parents which was life membership to the NT.
More presents, main bourse, pudding, got a bit drunk,Tom Lehrer, talked about politics, Fleetwood Mac, Lego.
Parents left, now time to put DS to bed and chill.

sonjadog · 25/12/2019 19:24

Mine has been pretty good. I was sick all last week so preparations didn't happen and then when I felt better at the weekend, I decided it was too late and I couldn't be bothered. So yesterday (we celebrate on 24th here), we went to church had a nice dinner and presents but no more fuss, and then today we have lain around, watched TV, read and taken the dog for a walk.

Hollygaggles · 25/12/2019 19:24

I threw our Christmas dinner together with no care at all, one hour start to finish and it was absolutely delicious! No stress and DH is loading the dishwasher now.

We opened the presents yesterday except for the ones Santa was going to bring this morning. Consequently DS wasn't overwhelmed this morning and could just spend the day playing.

I have had a swim.

Overall, a very nice day. Smile

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/12/2019 19:26

One of the DC has glandular fever and we've battened down the hatches and had a very different Christmas; usually we have family from all over the world visiting and feed at least 16, this year it's been he four of us, no relatives, no getting up and prepping, nothing. The DC didn't fancy a proper dinner so we've eaten cheese and crackers for supper and it's been bliss.

BoyfriendCoatBigScarf · 25/12/2019 19:27

Yes, we have. Very chilled, lovely food, had a laugh with a Guess That Tune Kazoo competition Xmas Grin
