Anyone else get some? Horrid stuff.

Nope, but I have in the past. I said thank you, was grateful for the thought, and gave them to charity.

Gingerkittykat · 25/12/2019 10:03

Thankfully no.

They used to sell this stuff in Poundland only a few years back but now it is on the shelves everywhere.

Is there a single person who likes it?

PineappleDanish · 25/12/2019 10:03

Hah! Just started a post on AIBU about this. I did. Will be going to teh charity shop in a few days.

Soffy · 25/12/2019 10:04

I like it. What's wrong with it?Confused

RubbishRubbishRubbish · 25/12/2019 10:05

I wouldn’t mind but I got some last year and never used it. It's shit.

It's just such a thoughtless present. Sold everywhere, cheap and nasty, minimum of effort, no thought into what the person might actually like. Cheap but with pretentions of being expensive.

And with the packaging they're an environmental disaster too.

Sweet32 · 25/12/2019 10:09

Oh I like the mandarin handwash. I wouldn't buy it as a present but it is nice enough as an everyday thing

mummaminnie · 25/12/2019 10:14

Is it not a rip-off of Molton Brown? I sometimes buy the mandarin one for the downstairs loo as it smells nice.

slalomsuki · 25/12/2019 10:17

Not a big fan but they did do a ginger hand wash a few years back that was lovely and evoked Christmas all year round.

AwdBovril · 25/12/2019 10:18

It's ok as cheap handwash, but definitely not present material though. And absolutely agree about the packaging re: environmental impact. I prefer soap, partly for this reason.

Deemail · 25/12/2019 10:18

I use the hand wash but can't understand how the brand is suddenly been marketed as a cheap copy of a luxury brand. The shower gels are runny and nasty and other bits in sets tacky and cheap looking.

Celebelly · 25/12/2019 10:21

It keeps our downstairs loo stocked so I don't mind it!

ooooohbetty · 25/12/2019 10:28

I think it's ok and I also think it's pretty shitty to complain about presents people have taken the time to buy you.

anon2000000000 · 25/12/2019 10:38

I don't mind their soaps but I don't like the rest of the range.

twilightcafe · 25/12/2019 10:39

So you can't complain anonymously about presents on MN now?

Aragog · 25/12/2019 10:43

I can't get too her up over stuff like this. Not received any but have done in the past - often from children at school or a grandparent.

Although I have fairly sensitive skin at times it's actually not something I've ever reacted to.

I don't tend to need posh stuff for my every day hand wash and shower gel so it gets used.

I don't think it's any worse than much of the everyday stuff you get in supermarkets and wouldn't say it was 'horrid.' Just not expensive or 'special.'

AnythingConsidered · 25/12/2019 10:52

My just 14 year old has bought me Bayliss and Harding hand cream, and I instantly thought of MN and being given my first opportunity to post on a Christmas day thread!

I am known for my love of handcream, with L'Occtaine being my favourite, but I don't care she's bought my Bayliss and Harding.

It's the first year she has bought presents for me and DH on her own, using her allowance. She bought me something she knows I like, with smells she knows I like and in a gift box of my favourite colour. A gift completely and utterly full of thought.

timeforteea · 25/12/2019 11:08

Having seen the Christmas threads build up on here about gift receiving, I've come to the conclusion that anyone that complaints about a gift they have received that a person has clearly gone and bought with money they have earned, wrapped it, written something and then given it to you is a miserable shit. I've never read so many ungreatful threads as this year!

timeforteea · 25/12/2019 11:09

@AnythingConsidered That's lovely. Very sweet.

Spied · 25/12/2019 11:13

DP took DC 8&10 shopping for my Xmas presents.
Got some lovely things.
DS chose me a Baylis and Harding gift set from him because it was large and contains bath bombs. He was over the moon with his choice and beamed as he handed me my gift.
It is now my favourite gift. Love it and will use with pride.

Weihnachtsstern · 25/12/2019 11:18

I like it.

Gilead · 25/12/2019 13:25

As someone who’s mother used to give her nothing for Christmas, I’m grateful for anything I’m given. The abominable snobbery displayed Here is grim.

UnnecessarilyUpset · 25/12/2019 13:29

I received it as a gift from someone who I was surprised had gifted me something. I did wonder if it was something she had been gifted herself! Still, I'm not complaining as I didn't expect anything in the first place.

InsertFunnyUsername · 25/12/2019 13:31

I like them, well not all of it but I'm fond of a smelly Gift set Blush

isabellerossignol · 25/12/2019 13:34

What I hate about this brand, and ones like it, isn't the fact that it is cheap. Cheap hand-wash will still wash your hands. It's the terrible hand and body lotion that always comes with it as a set. It is watery and smells plastic - y, and it doesn't actually moisturise your skin very well. I've never known anyone to get one of those hand-wash and hand lotion sets and not end up throwing the hand lotion out. It's so wasteful.

If they just sold it as sets of two different scented handwashes it would be fine. Not a luxury present but something that at least can be put to good use for most people.
