Just as the title says.

If you're working today, what is it that you do for a living?

I would be grateful holiday letter. Just as I was grateful for the corner shop that sold me a 29p bag of aldi carrots for £1.50 - I would have paid more!

Thank you to everyone who works over xmas!

Luckily I get xmas day and boxing day off (i work in the NHS but an outpatients role). I often get a few patients comment in the run up to Xmas that I should be working as the hospital should be a 7 day a week job.

I wonder how many of them would turn up for a routine appointment on Xmas day!

@maddiemookins16mum I did the christmas day/sleep/boxing day shift this time. I don't mind doing the sleep because I don't drive so only have to worry about getting to work. This time my lovely stepfather gave me a lift so not too bad.

@TheoriginalLEM Oh goodness. I shed a tear at your post. Thank you. I have been scrubbing loos today, too, so that other people can have lovely holidays. I will get my reward some time when I'm about 95 and have paid off the mortgages. Meanwhile, your kind post means a lot.

HolidayLetter · 26/12/2019 20:46

@TFthatsover Hugs to you too. Being a funeral director is obviously harder than making sure people have nice holidays.

I spent a few Christmases working when I worked in prisons. Usually a fairly good atmosphere, the kitchen try to put a good meal on. DH is police but he's been off Mon-Fri this year so we've done well!

I have had to work Christmas Day in the past, clinical role in an NHS hospital but not working for the NHS. I know the sacrifice and the running around necessary to make sure the rest of my family don’t miss out too much with me not being there.
Luckily i’m in a different role now, so a sincere thank you to everyone who had to work on Christmas Day, and maybe didn’t get a thank you from anyone else.
A special thank you to all Care home staff including non caring staff. We went to visit my MIL in the home she lives in on Christmas morning, we visit weekly as does my SIL, but there were definitely a lot of Christmas only families visiting. My MIL isn’t aware enough to thank you herself and can be difficult at times ( not aggressive or violent thankfully) but i know that if she were her old self she would want to thank you all too.

@HolidayLetter Hugs coming back your way, full respect to you and your hard work and dedication. WineThanks
