Just as the title says.

If you're working today, what is it that you do for a living?

Recovery driver for the big yellow machine
Starting at five should finish sometime tomorrow morning 😂😂

Scrowy · 25/12/2019 14:05

Farmers.

We take it a bit slower on Christmas Day so try and get everything essential done before dinner, and then another check round everything before dark.

We used to be lambing at this time of year too but we don't any more.

I'm a community nurse, not working today only tomorrow 9-4 and then off for a week Xmas Smile

bengalcat · 25/12/2019 14:22

Surgeon

MimiCaeger · 25/12/2019 14:39

I only did four hours as we try and split all the shifts up, but I work as a nursery nurse on a psychiatric unit specialising in the care of mums and their babies.
So lots of babies first Christmas.

RoxytheRexy · 25/12/2019 15:37

Going into work at 7 tonight for a 12 hour shift. I’m an ITU nurse

TreacherousPissFlap · 25/12/2019 17:25

Could have been worse today, we'll pay for it later in the week Xmas Hmm

crosser62 · 25/12/2019 17:29

Intensive care nurse.

blodynmelyn · 25/12/2019 17:39

I worked 7.5 hours this morning. I am a support worker in a residential home for 8 adults with severe learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. I actually really enjoyed the morning, I loved seeing the residents open their presents and enjoy the food and music

teenagetantrums · 25/12/2019 17:42

I worked 7am till 4pm. Cook in a care home. Was nice really bit manic doing Christmas dinner for 80 plus the family that turn up once a year🤣. Am home now doing Christmas dinner again..easier for 2

FaceLikeAFlittin · 25/12/2019 17:57

I’m a nurse, despite my username I am not a stranger to smiling.

I don’t have children so always put my name down to work over Christmas.

I’m an old school nurse, if anyone needs a little hug today they jolly well get one. It’s not easy for patients or their families.

I’m off at 8pm, will pick up my lovely dog, head home, heat up my Christmas dinner and watch the Snow Queen with a glass of Barolo.

FaceLikeAFlittin · 25/12/2019 18:01

Have a hug from me karen Brew

Bargebill19 · 25/12/2019 18:04

Care home. Min wage. Residents happy but sadly saw some relatives that haven’t been since last Christmas....

Honeyroar · 25/12/2019 18:04

Cabin crew. I’m in America for a few days. We had our family Xmas meal last weekend. The hotel isn’t doing much for Xmas but we all met for breakfast with champagne earlier.

cantthinkofauniquename · 25/12/2019 18:16

To all of you who are working over the festive period, Thank you! 🎅❤🎅

WifOfBif · 25/12/2019 18:55

I work for a charity, specifically with children in care or leaving care. Children who literally have nowhere else to go today, it’s heart breaking.

Cooper88 · 25/12/2019 18:59

Community Carer, just starting my evening run to get my lovely clients ready for bed.

sassafras123 · 25/12/2019 22:51

SweetPeaPods · 25/12/2019 23:04

DH is police and on night shifts tonight and tomorrow. He has been up since 5am this morning so I have no idea how he can function till 8am when he gets home tomorrow morning.

TheoriginalLEM · 25/12/2019 23:09

Thank you to all of you who work Xmas day, whatever you do.

MrsAmaretto · 25/12/2019 23:35

DH is working 12 hour night shifts on an oil rig for the next 3 weeks.

HolidayLetter · 25/12/2019 23:40

The clue is in the username. Grin

HolidayLetter · 25/12/2019 23:44

In a bit more detail: self-employed people don't get Christmas Day off, but don't get any of the respect afforded to people who work for the public services.

I make sure everyone else is having a good Christmas, because I can't afford not to. I have had a nice, no-tech evening with my teenagers, though, as it would feel mean to come home and say I'm exhausted and want to go to bed (which is the truth).

As it happens, one of my teenagers was also working this morning, in a different capacity (again, not one that gains any kudos - but I think he is a star all the same).

TFthatsover · 25/12/2019 23:52

DH is a funeral director and is on call over xmas until new year. He loves his job but it's hard for him to do what he does and support families at the worst time of their lives and then come back home, put his Xmas jumper back on and smile and play with the DC's. I'm so proud of what he does, it's a very misunderstood profession.
