Getoffmylilo · 22/12/2019 19:56

Myfuckingfreezer - I LOVE wrapping too! I'm fucking brilliant at it, it's one of my very very few skills in life.

knewyouwerewaiting · 22/12/2019 19:59

I’ve just finished all mine but I am avoiding writing on the labels and sticking them on (for family not the dc.) Then they need organising to ensure I take the right piles to the right people.

katmarie · 22/12/2019 20:05

You all need one of these:

smile.amazon.co.uk/Tape-Dispenser-Cutting-Options-PURPLE/dp/B00C2QLBKS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=tape+dispenser+purple&qid=1577044987&sprefix=tape+dispenser+pu&sr=8-4

It made my wrapping so much easier this year. Dh bought it randomly about 18 months ago, and I rolled my eyes at him. How wrong I was, its legendary.

katmarie · 22/12/2019 20:06

Also preprinted labels make it easier!

KittenVsXmastree · 22/12/2019 20:16

knewyouwerewaiting how do you know what is in each parcel if they are all wrapped with no labels??

knewyouwerewaiting · 22/12/2019 20:18

Yeah I know! Well I have put them in little piles per family and will just have to feel them and open them if I get stuck.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/12/2019 20:19

I actually like wrapping but I'm now totally over it.

DS has a present under the tree still in it's Amazon packaging.

ChristmasSweet · 22/12/2019 20:20

I dont mind wrapping but I have to use a desk now. Broke my leg a few years back below the knee and had dodgy knees anyway, so kneeling on the floor hurts like hell after a few seconds let alone an hour or so wrapping. Sad

speakout · 22/12/2019 20:23

One of the tasks I love.

I pack and post 12000 items a year for my online business, so 50 christmas gifts is easy peasy.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 22/12/2019 20:25

I'm sat drinking my 3rd drink waiting for the dc to go to sleep so I can get cracking with mine. If they take too much longer god knows what state my wrapping will be in 🤣

It's got to be it's a wonderful life on when I wrapping though

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 22/12/2019 20:28

I wrapped everything that came in a cuboid shaped box as soon as we bought them. Anything big or odd shaped I put into some drawstring bags that I made with some Christmasy material. Easy-peasy.

Presents all wrapped in record time this afternoon, using the ironing board whilst I sat on the sofa a revelation!! Cut the time down no end and no back ache!!

TonOfLead · 22/12/2019 21:38

I thought I was being organised this year. I had a day off work. DC would be in school. I'd get it all done then.

Until DC2 was unexpectedly off for the day poorly. I got nothing done.

And now DC1 is poorly so not sleeping.

Fuck knows when I'll get it done now.

sohypnotic · 22/12/2019 21:52

Sellotape dispenser and one of these bad boys...

Thorilicious · 22/12/2019 21:57

So, after starting this thread, I've wrapped.... Nada...
DS woke and has only just gone back to sleep, so we will have to do it tomorrow now...

I’m in! I’ve done the stockings/ Santa stuff for 2 dc, and all friend/ family presents... 2 dc to go, so around 40 items (including satsuma/ apple etc). Unfortunately this includes a bike. Any suggestions? Plan to start once they’re all asleep...

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/12/2019 22:00

Wait until they’re older... ds6 and ds7 were still awake 10 minutes ago!

Time40 · 22/12/2019 22:02

Am I the only person that LOVES wrapping?!

Yes. Yes, I am afraid that you are.

I have been reading MN for far too long, because the next thing I have to do is wrapping.

I'm just thinking that the next thing I really need to do is go for a long nighttime walk.

Thorilicious · 22/12/2019 22:09

@Howmanysleepsnow plastic bbq cover?

Bigredumbrella · 22/12/2019 22:11

I hate the wrapping part but luckily my Dh really enjoys it. He is out in the garage with the radio on and a 12 pack of beer doing all the wrapping. I think he might get lucky tonight as a reward

Rainallnight · 22/12/2019 23:07

So I sat down to tackle mine with a sherry, a mince pie and a podcast and DP came in to bloody help/lose the scissors/generally get in the way! I absolutely and completely prefer to do it on my own. It’s kind of a treat.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 22/12/2019 23:30

@howmanysleepsnow you can get a proper bike gift bag from Halfords. I paid £1 and it was brilliant.

I've ran out of paper 😭😭

wonkylegs · 22/12/2019 23:36

Just finished bar 2 which I need to print out a slip to go inside each of them but printer is loud and next to kids rooms so I'll have to leave it til tomorrow now
Back is aching and my teeth taste of sellotape....
Have made the kids wrap their presents to other people themselves (with a little help) 11yo is as good as his father and may need to resort to gift bags - a square box made him cry, 3yo seems to take after me and is quite good and surprisingly neat.
