I’ve been wrapping for bloody days. Have I finished? Have I, fuck. My grandmother, who was the person who first implemented the idea that every single cunting item in a stocking must be wrapped, has A LOT to answer for.

MotorwayDiva · 22/12/2019 18:56

I buy all the presents and DH wraps them. It stresses me so much, that I drink too much wine and then incapable of wrapping anything.

KittenVsXmastree · 22/12/2019 19:07

Wrapping hints:
stocking stuff doesn't get wrapped
Less is more - cut out presents that are just exchanged for the sake of it, and only gift to those who matter.
Less is more 2 - 4 carefully chosen presents for the kids are much more valuable than 20 bits "because that's what weve always done"

Presents all done in an hour by myself, and an hour with the kids.

It's the blumming labeling I hate.

yellowallpaper · 22/12/2019 19:10

I've done mine 😀

MayFayner · 22/12/2019 19:12

We do each one as soon as it's bought and they all go under the tree as soon as it's up

You operate on a level that I can only dream of aspiring to.

I’ve only done the ones that have already been given. The rest (vast majority) are still to do. I don’t know where some of them are, as they’ve been hidden for months. Plus I only have a quarter of a roll of sellotape Xmas Sad

FlashingFedora bloody hell you’ve just solved my back ache mystery - I was dreading the second wave of wrapping because...somehow...my back hurt Hmm Grin

MayFayner · 22/12/2019 19:15

That’s nice tit 👍

SimonJT · 22/12/2019 19:17

My son gets over whelmed if his presents are wrapped, so no wrapping here! I might stretch to a bow on his bike.

Bunnybigears · 22/12/2019 19:18

I am only wrapping for 2 DC's but I have 3 bastard cats and a sodding dog all trying to help me. I need more wine.

DivisionBelles · 22/12/2019 19:18

Finished mine today bar the two things that I twitched on on Amazon earlier! I used to love wrapping everything up, making it look lovely with matching paper, bows and tags. Now it's just a chore. I did do it this year at the table though, so no sore back or numb knees. And DH kindly bought me a sellotape dispenser from the local cheap shop, that made it a whole lot easier.

this... and never look back at scissors ever again!!

We already did ours, watching Die Hard!

myfuckingfreezer · 22/12/2019 19:32

My bois getting a big fat bigger than by face Bush

Erm...what?

myfuckingfreezer · 22/12/2019 19:33

Am I the only person that LOVES wrapping?!

DappledThings · 22/12/2019 19:40

How much is everyone putting in stockings that wrapping those is such a chore? Mine get 4 things each plus chocolate coins. Then one big present each. No wrapping drama!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 22/12/2019 19:42

DH does our wrapping while I supervise and write the labels. He is super fast and well tooled up with sellotape dispenser, sticky labels etc.

We have four kids to wrap for, plus BiL who is honourary child at Christmas (no significant others to buy for him). Also family of six staying for new year who we will buy for. I’ve done and sent all my family weeks ago.

It’s going to be a long session tomorrow night I suspect.

BestIsWest · 22/12/2019 19:46

Me and DH had a marathon session - We’ve done everything but my Dad’s. Feel very virtuous.

Top MN tip from a past year was to use the ironing board. Keep scissors etc at the iron end. DH also uses a sharp kitchen knife for cutting large bits of aper.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/12/2019 19:48

My mother used to wrap everything single thing that was in the stockings not the satsuma . Fuck that for a game of soldiers... 😂

BestIsWest · 22/12/2019 19:49

I do that! Used tissue paper and stickers this year though.

dementedma · 22/12/2019 19:50

I don’t wrap stocking stuff - too many little fiddly bits.
All presents are wrapped when they arrive so nothing left to do now.
Makes life a lot easier

snowballer · 22/12/2019 19:53

Did all my wrapping last night while watching season 1 of The Affair - I'm late to the party but am hooked. I did it alone, and realised there's a correlation between losing the scissors/pen/sellotape and having a wrapping partner. My formula is going to be repeated next year!

TheSeaWitch · 22/12/2019 19:54

I don't want to do mine, but I have so much to do 😭 I'm very pregnant and my belly keeps getting in the way. I refuse to be wrapping on Christmas Eve like I usually am though!

ClashCityRocker · 22/12/2019 19:55

I dont even have kids and I bloody hate wrapping.

I am so bad at it too. Every year I swear I'll do it as I go. Every year I end up with a pile to do with a few days to go.

Thankfully, I am about done.
