What are you doing for your holiday next year?

For the first time in years I have nothing booked.

We’re moving house at the end of Jan so I wanted to save cash for that. It would be nice however to have some clue about what we want to do!

DH wants a lodge in the highlands which sounds lovely but is weather dependent. One kid wants to go to Centreparcs in Belgium and the other wants to go to Tokyo Hmm

We have had lots of different types of holiday from eurocamp to all inclusive but nothing is really exciting me this year. I can’t stand the thought of doing nothing though.

Inspire me, what are you doing?

Hoping that The Sun are going to run their £9.50 holidays. Didn't go away this year, or last year or the year before...

fairydustandpixies · 18/12/2019 17:34

Do people really have these many holidays??

Chewbecca · 18/12/2019 17:35

Cruise.

It works so well for us with my 16yo DS, we spend time with him and visit a few new cities but he also makes friends on the ship and has a fabulous time.

BlaueLagune · 18/12/2019 17:36

Germany in early January

DS has a trip to Italy with college in late February

Scotland in May half term

Nothing else booked yet but would like to go to Spain as ds is doing Spanish A level so maybe Valencia in October half term.

Do people really have these many holidays

Ours are all short. 3 nights in Germany, 5 nights in Scotland. We don't go away for 2 weeks, ever.

sansou · 18/12/2019 17:42

Nothing until the summer due to DC1 doing GCSEs. 2 weeks in Slovenia staying in Ljubjana, Bled & Bohinj & planning for an active holiday.

fairydustandpixies · 18/12/2019 17:42

@Blaue I can't afford a single night away, nevermind just a night or three here and there!

Am envious of you all, enjoy and have a wonderful time! I'm not green with envy at all...! 😊

(But I really am keeping my fingers crossed for The Sun holidays!)

UAEMum · 18/12/2019 17:47

We live in the UAE so the weather ia gorgeous here now. I just booked a 2 night staycation beach holiday for next week. Last year we went to Bali and had such an amazing time that im feeling deflated as to what could top that. This is making it hard to decide where to go for the Summer. Im thinking of a week or 10 days in Turkey. But where, suggestions very welcome!

asteri76 · 18/12/2019 17:47

mamaduckbone · 18/12/2019 19:16

We're the same as you - moving house after Christmas so can't bring myself to book anything until that's done.
Kids' request is somewhere sunny with a pool, which doesn't narrow it down much Hmm

MustardScreams · 18/12/2019 19:28

@UAEMum I’ve been to Dalyan in Turkey a couple of time now and absolutely love it. Not beachy, but there are lovely little boats you can hire for the day to take you to incredible secluded coves, and then they cook you fresh crab or fish they catch off the boat.

There’s also incredible caves and art carved into the side of the cliffs which is a stunning day out. I love it! Might have to book a week now I’m thinking about it again Grin

SecretWitch · 18/12/2019 19:32

Disney in April as my son will be working there

BG2015 · 18/12/2019 19:40

We're going to Lebanon in February. Nothing else booked; got lots of ideas but got to find the cash!

QuestionableMushroom · 18/12/2019 20:01

Centre parcs in August with a fuck load of my family

Betterbegoing · 18/12/2019 20:02

Technically next year. We leave on the 28th December for New Zealand, well be out there for just over five weeks. We’re hiring a campervan and seeing all we can Grin we got married in the summer and this is our honeymoon.

VenusClapTrap · 18/12/2019 20:04

Cuba for February half term. It’ll be the first long haul trip we’ve taken the dc on, so pretty exciting.

Then also in Feb I’m off to Trondheim in Norway for a long weekend with a friend - to see a-ha on their home turf! Can’t wait.

The rest of the year we have agreed we will only go to places we can drive to, as we recently splurged on a fully electric car with a long range battery, so travel in that is pretty much free. And considerably better for the environment than flying. (Yes, I’m feeling guilty about Cuba. We will offset it with some tree planting.)

LesLavandes · 18/12/2019 21:06

I'm going to Malaysia and Thailand for 3 weeks in January. Nothing booked afterwards but I will think of something!

tinytemper66 · 18/12/2019 21:12

Center Parcs Longleat in May and /Sorrento in August.
Will also go to Seville in August and somewhere at Easter and Feb half term but not booked yet.
