Celebrities you can’t warm to

Does anyone have any celebrities they can’t really ‘warm to’ or don’t get great vibes about for no reason at all, even though they are generally very well-liked?

Mine is Justin/Mr Tumbke, I know everyone loves him but I just get these vibes that he’s actually a total diva and the tv/stage persona is just that. But then I’m probably totally wrong.

Anyone else?

Lorraine Kelly and Katherine Jenkins

I MUST be out on a limb here but I find Amanda Holden quite real. I relate.

She is trying her hardest not to age and she's doing a good job in an industry that doesn't forgive a woman for aging. Maybe she's too good at not ageing. No woman sets out to age. They accept it.

Shhhhh223 · 21/12/2019 14:59

And Cameron Diaz her acting is terrible!

Katinski · 21/12/2019 15:20

@Barnseyboyo - David Attenborough, horrible? Genuine question and I'll respect your opinion of course, but..???
I've only seen the naturalist I've seen on the TV for years, apart from being on a flight with him once and witnessing the ginormous snog he gave his wife when we disembarked! I felt genuinely sorry for him when I read of her deathSad
I've read of the quandary the presenters are in when they have to film and comment upon all those 'nature raw in tooth and claw' moments where we're all shouting "for God's sake, do something!"but apart from that, is there something else?

albertcamus · 21/12/2019 15:38

Stormzy - f**k off with your political views, most people are not interested in them.

Hugh Grant - as above, and realise that you are now far from a heartthrob.

Lily Allen - get over yourself, most people only cry for genuinely serious reasons, not publicity.

Robert Peston - are you really a clever, intellectual, interesting man? You don't seem it.

Ed Sheeran - you're not the only ginger in the world, and you don't speak for all of them. Stop making it seem like a disability.

Charlottejbt · 21/12/2019 15:43

I'm pretty sure D Attenborough is a good guy. Met him at an event once and he arrived early and stayed late to greet all the kids who had come to see him.

Sharon Horgan. I don't like myself for it, but she just seems so smug and pleased with herself.

I accidentally made this observation to my SIL and it turns out that her DB is very close to SH, who is apparently great fun and really nice to work with. Oops. Blush

Agree about Jamie and Nigella. It's the fake OTT personas that certain celebrity chefs have. Eww. Also "Angel Adorée" and her irritating faux eccentricity. Maybe I'm just jealous of her house though!

bevelino · 21/12/2019 15:48

Tamara Ecclestone and her £50m jewellery collection.

BlaueLagune · 21/12/2019 15:49

Anyone who feels the need to make their boobs and bottom look like footballs.

I find most comedy quite cringey and embarassing but I love Michael McIntyre!

misspiggy19 · 21/12/2019 15:59

Russell Howard- smug and not funny
Paddy McGuiness- irritating

christmaskit · 21/12/2019 20:08

I discovered Mumsnet accidentally when I googled "is Justin Fletcher/Mr Tumble gay?". My DC loved him at the time. (Now teenagers).
Google sent me to Mumsnet and I'm still here today.
I remember the thread well. Apparently he is NOT gay. A poster confirmed that he was a "very considerate" lover and a nice guy too.

UncleHerbie · 21/12/2019 20:39

Years ago my friend and I had a list of people we'd rather kick the telly in than lost: on my list: Arg n Gemma (aliens), Amanda Holden, Sharon Osborne, Ricky Gervaise has a face I'd never tire of slapping, David Mitchell

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/12/2019 20:53

YY to Gemma'n'Arg

They are both in their 30s but do those stupid little faces like a child being caught doing something wrong .
He does the biting his bottom lip hing and she does the "ooh aren't I bad" look.

Grow The Fuck Up the pair of you .

Mrsjayy · 21/12/2019 21:01

Arg is so odd it is like he left school when he was 8

Violetparis · 21/12/2019 21:06

Helen Mirren - thinks she's a sex kitten
Emma Thompson - smug lovey
Vicky Pattison - uncouth
Amanda Holden - irritating
Nish Kumar - not funny, in fact most of the smug sneery 'comedian's' on panel shows

Bouledeneige · 21/12/2019 21:10

Oh and Stephen Fry - king of the Smuggiest Smuggins

peony68 · 21/12/2019 21:36

Kay Burley , Carol Vordermand and Davina McCall all set my teeth on edge !

chillykiwi · 21/12/2019 21:49

Stephen Fry is lovely IRL.

Charlottejbt · 21/12/2019 21:54

Stephen Fry is lovely IRL.

Yes he is, although my encounter with him lasted only seconds. Very tall and very affable, just as he seems on the TV.

chillykiwi · 21/12/2019 21:56

Mine was a bit longer than that - two days - and yes, very tall and affable, kind too.

Dieu · 21/12/2019 21:59

Was chatting to a friend last night, who works closely - and has done for years - with comedians.
He said that Peter Kay is a truly awful person.
And Johnny Vegas is the best. Grin

Dieu · 21/12/2019 22:00

Paddy McGuiness looks like he would fart in bed and waft it at you.

ManonBlackbeak · 21/12/2019 22:02

Mariah Carey.

Awful, screechy woman who over sings everything. I had the misfortune to hear her singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing on Alexa earlier. She cant just sing it normally can she? No, every single word has about ten notes in it. Fucking dreadful. Oh and she acts like a pre teen girl despite being nearly 50.

monkeytennis97 · 21/12/2019 22:02

Greg Wallace

How those people in those factories didn't punch him is beyond me...

monkeytennis97 · 21/12/2019 22:08

Manon agree re Mariah Carey.. the 10 notes per syllable is melisma. I hate overly melismatic singing too urgh!

SunsetBoulevard3 · 21/12/2019 22:09
