Celebrities you can’t warm to

Does anyone have any celebrities they can’t really ‘warm to’ or don’t get great vibes about for no reason at all, even though they are generally very well-liked?

Mine is Justin/Mr Tumbke, I know everyone loves him but I just get these vibes that he’s actually a total diva and the tv/stage persona is just that. But then I’m probably totally wrong.

Anyone else?

Mary Ann Hobgoblin and her narcoleptic broadcasting style can disappear.
Oh Christ yes. She just sounds like a simpleton. And why does she do that stupid self-conscious laugh every two sentences?

Christmasgravy · 20/12/2019 10:39

In no particular order... Grin

Kate Moss
Helen Mirren
Barbara Windsor
Mary Berry
The late Amy Winehouse
John Cleese
Olivia Coleman
Keira Knightly
Prince William
Zoe Ball
Emma Thompson
Robbie Williams
Lorraine Kelly
The late Robin Williams

Giggorata · 20/12/2019 10:49

Kirk Douglas has always made my flesh creep.
James Corden, for no real reason.
And with no basis whatsoever, so apologies, John Bishop.

CatInTheDaytime · 20/12/2019 10:52

Oh Mary Anne Hobbs! I don't know how she does it because her narcoleptic voice should at least be soothing but somehow it drills right through my head and makes me incredibly stressed. I think it's also that she talks slightly too slowly so I get this sense of desperate apprehension. I have to turn her off even though I have nothing against her personality or music choices.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/12/2019 19:11

Lorraine Kelly
every photo of her (and that clothes advert she appears in) why can she not just smile like any other normal person. Why the very fake "Oh I'm in the middle of a great big laugh" face . So staged .

And I sigh inwardly at the covers of the Christmas magazines when the cover is either Nigella Lawson or Lorraine Kelly laughing in a sequinned dress ( though thankfully Good Housekeeping has had a photo of a tree and some assorted small children in party wear for the past three years )

Dustarr73 · 21/12/2019 06:38

I dont mind David Walliams, but why is he never seen with his son.He never mentions him either. And i dont mean shoe horning him in to every conversation.

lowlandLucky · 21/12/2019 06:49

It would be quicker to tell you who i like but the one that really gets on my goat is that old lush Helen Mirren, i really do hate her with a passion and i dont know why

jinglebitch · 21/12/2019 06:50

(In ref to early posts, dont know how many pages the dislike went on for) I met Amanda Holden this week. I was fully prepared for dirt gathering, but honestly she really impressed me and I genuinely liked her.

Electrocute1980 · 21/12/2019 06:57

I can't watch anything with amanda seyfried in it, can't even say why. I'm sure she's a nice person in real life but I find her extremely irritating on screen!

Savingforarainyday · 21/12/2019 07:02

Davina McCall- not sure why
Allan Carr - he's so mean
Jeremy Clarkson- smug twat

Freyanna · 21/12/2019 09:06

He is dead now but I could never stand Leslie Grantham (Dirty Den Eastenders.

Not keen on Frankie Boyle

jcurve · 21/12/2019 09:50

Katherine Jenkins - you just know she’s a horrible diva when offstage.

I loved Fleabag but you just know Phoebe W-B is the kind of friend who can only do one-sided conversations entirely consisting of stories about her life.

Wauden · 21/12/2019 10:39

Ricky Gervais. My instincts tell me that he is nasty in real life.

ParanoidGynodroid · 21/12/2019 10:47

I’m not too bothered by most “slebs” but am allergic to the actor Kris Marshall. He has such a smug, arrogant look, but with nothing to be smug about: totally underwhelming as an actor and horrible to look at. This describes lots of people in the public eye of course, but for some reason KM turns my stomach.

doublebarrellednurse · 21/12/2019 11:20

Am I really the only one who can't stand Kirsty Allsop. Really?

TheCrookedHorse · 21/12/2019 11:23

You're not alone. I can't stand Phil either though.

ManonBlackbeak · 21/12/2019 11:27

Kirk Douglas has always made my flesh creep.

And with good reason, it will all come out when he finally snuffs it....

Might I add

Katherine Jenkins
Philip Schofield
Cheryl
David Walliams
Simon Cowell
Nicole Scherzinger
Lorraine Kelly

I suppose it takes a certain arrogance to be a successful celebrity: and any publicity is good publicity. Actors have been known to say that being famous is their least favourite part of the job.

Does anyone remember Channel 4's "100 most hated people in Britain", from about 2001? A few names on this thread were on that programme: Catherine ZJ, Geri Halliwell, The Beckhams (Victoria was much higher than David), Jamie Oliver, and indeed most of the TV chefs. The Queen was at number 10. Katie Price was at number 2 (then referred to as Jordan); surprisingly, nobody on this thread has mentioned who was at number 1, although there was a thread about him recently.

keepsmiling2015 · 21/12/2019 11:50

Beyonce - she's talented but I don't get the massive hype around her, Queen Bey etc.
Lorraine - over rated
Jacqueline Jossa- can't quite put my finger on it

NoOneNeedsToKnowThis · 21/12/2019 11:52

Nodding my head at a lot of the names mentioned on here.
My list would be:
Geri Haliwell - Her faux posh accent makes me cringe
The Beckhams - Particularly David and his nicey nicey family man act when it’s common knowledge in certain circles he can’t keep it in his pants. The leaked emails where he called the honours committee ‘unappreciative cunts’ showed his true colours.
Gino Di Campo
Greg Wallace
Philip Schofield
Lily Allen
All of the TOWIE/Ex on the Beach/Made in Chelsea/Geordie Shore lot

I’m a former magazine journalist and I can honestly say that the Z listers/reality TV dross were by far the most difficult to work with. They were mostly ego maniacs who thought they were a cut above everyone else. You’d get the odd one who was perfectly pleasant but the majority were a bloody nightmare.

Sagradafamiliar · 21/12/2019 12:07

Jacqueline Jossa seemed a bit hard faced when I watched one of her YouTube videos, not really what I was expecting. She must be steely to have got with Dan Osbourne in the circumstances she did, though, forgiven his domestic violence against the mother of his child, all the cheating and whatever else has gone on.

neonglow · 21/12/2019 12:56

@Sagradafamiliar Yes she got pregnant when Dan Osborne’s first baby was 3 months old Shock

I do think she deserves better than him now though and I think she must have a degree of low self-esteem to put up with it.
