I found this beauty. A combination of gorgeous original features with a few modern touches. Light and airy. Beautiful grounds. Close to motorway networks to Glasgow/Edinburgh/Stirling. Eight bedrooms probably too much for me but I guess I could have some more children... Hmm.

Unquestioned, it is stuffed with character but I would have to check whether it had ever flooded Grin being right by the river.

Client I pass by Preston on the M6 when visiting family in Wales. It is a stylish, modern house but looks really private too, though a lot of big windows to clean...

gillyginger oh my! The views are incredible. I wonder how many opportunities there would be to dine outside on that massive table, bearing in mind it does rain a lot in the part of the world Grin.

One of a few but this is my favourite. Gorgeous village too.

Ah, CanIspeak, thanks for letting me know. I do love to see the odd pet in property pics, or evidence that they have pets (dog baskets etc).

Meshy, there are oodles of gorgeous properties in the Central belt so close to motorway network so you can easily get to cities/towns if you need to. The property I started this thread off in in a perfect example.

Client, cheapest within five miles Shock. Amazing price even in Preston. I bet it gets snapped up pronto.

@midsomermurderess I bloody love that house! Not keen on some of the decor but imagine the fun you'd have changing it! So many quirky and gorgeous features.

GoldenKelpie · 15/12/2019 11:01

BikeRunSki, wow, that first one is a true stately home.

The second one is lovely, clearly been professionally decorated, so tasteful. One of the kids bedroom has fab library wallpaper.

mindproject, has some nice features. Was confused about the main bathroom with two bedrooms off but saw that there was a separate staircase to those rooms.

GoldenKelpie · 15/12/2019 11:13

abstractebra, it looks like it has retained most original decor/features and yes, that massive garden is ripe for dividing up and selling off plots (with planning permission of course).

We have friends living on this road and many of the properties are gorgeous TunbridgeWells This one is quite small ut was the only one where I thought ohh that's interesting under 1 mil. If I could go up a bit I could find more.

duggeehug85 · 15/12/2019 11:26

I love this!

That first one is cute, exexpat, but does that third bedroom in basement have a window? If not can it still be classed as a bedroom? There is no picture of it and no description.

The second one is beautiful and tastefully decorated. If it hasn't sold yet, it is too much money.

GoldenKelpie · 15/12/2019 11:32

Yes, WTFdidwedo, it is rather traditional in decor Grin, very "Miss Marple". I think the conservatory needs attention, too.

Lancs looks like you wouldn't get a studio flat for this price in the south.

GoldenKelpie · 15/12/2019 11:45

Oh my! HoldMyLobster, that first one is amazing, a real loft apartment!

The original features, particularly the wood, is marvellous in that second property. The views from the balcony are stunning!

But that third one, yes I prefer that one because I get to have my own jetty Grin.

Mmmm, nice TheoriginalLEM but super close to the sea. Does it ever flood during certain high tides, I wonder?

£1000000 6 bed country house

£475000 3 bed bungalow I'd actually like to live in.

GoldenKelpie · 15/12/2019 11:52

It is certainly unique, midsomermurderess, but I like it. Baggsy me gets that amazing stone-walled round bedroom though Grin.

OP posts:
AmmoniaAvenue · 15/12/2019 11:55

Does anyone else find themselves gnashing their teeth over houses like these, and thinking 'Nooo! It shouldn't be decorated like that?'

This thread is almost enough to make me start playing the lottery! Xmas Grin
