In Leicestershire were I was brought up it was a bread roll / bap / barn cake (as we say in the NW). We had soft ones and crusty ones.

ChanklyBore · 14/12/2019 20:48

Horse type. If I remember correctly, generally they are medium height in terms of HH, so not pony sized but not tall, usually around 14 - 15.2, and with a good measurement of bone (circumference of the cannon), something like 8 inches plus but it’s a long time since I was around horses.

AdaColeman · 14/12/2019 20:48

A cob is a round loaf of bread, it's a contraction of Coburg.

In Kent, a cob is a nut, another name for hazelnut.

FruityWidow · 14/12/2019 20:48

Where I grew up it was a silk, where I live now is a bread roll. I was well confused when I first moved up here and was asked if I wanted my bacon in a sandwich or a cob.

Stegosaurus1990 · 14/12/2019 20:49

A mood, a bread roll, a horse.

msmith501 · 14/12/2019 20:49

And in the NW it's a sulk - a bit like having a "monk on"

... and when I first moved here and the woman in the chippy asked me if I wanted a barm cake with my fish and chips, I said "no thanks.... I'll have one of those cobs please".... pointing to what I now know to be called barm cakes!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/12/2019 20:50
