Someone has peed on my Christmas Decs

But who?! I can’t believe I just wrote that, this is a problem I’ve not hitherto encountered in my fairly problem-filled life!

Decorations are stored in an attic room on the top floor of our house. Youngest ds brought them down for me earlier today. Thought I could detect a whiff of something but put it down to the decorations having been packed away for a year.

Got to the crate with the Christmas lights stored in it, and the smell was getting stronger. Pulled the lights out, and sure enough, at the bottom of the crate was, well, piss Shock.

The dc are all adult (youngest is 15), there is no dh, there is an elderly cat but think he probably couldn’t be bothered to climb into what is quite a deep crate, there is a young dog who I would definitely suspect if he wasn’t a sausage dog and would (I think) find it physically impossible to get into (and out of) the crate. All human suspects are denying any knowledge and I have to say I believe them! Wtf?!!

Over to you folks!

Rats or mice surely?

LazyDaisey · 08/12/2019 19:33

Whatever it is, still lives in your attic

EskewedBeef · 08/12/2019 19:34

Probably the cat. They love a sneaky piss.

Yes who lives in your attic

Jaxhog · 08/12/2019 19:34

It'll be the elderly cat. If a cat isn't feeling well or it doesn't like the litter tray (or going outside in the cold) it will sometimes seek out a private place to pee. Maybe the crate looked like a litter tray? Mine do this.

BonnyE · 08/12/2019 19:37

This is the funniest post title I've seen for a while. Thank you Grin
My vote is nice. Their pee is very strong.

BooseysMom · 08/12/2019 19:37

Wtf indeed! DH has just said it must be a leaky roof but i said why would it smell of piss?! He says maybe it's the insulation mixed in with the water. If there's no way any of the DC or pets could have done it then yeah i'd say check the roof. The pissy pool may be rank water that's been sitting there ages. Omg poor you OP. Good luck x

BonnyE · 08/12/2019 19:37

Mice! Autocorrect

Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:38

I think there was too much liquid for rats or mice although I don’t really know what volume they’d produce! No other signs of destruction.

Do you really think it could’ve been the cat? It’s quite a deep crate - would seem like a lot of effort. But then again, I can’t think what/who else it could be!

OP posts:
Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:40

Booseys I would prefer that to be the explanation rather than something live doing it. But then it wouldn’t be confined to one crate I don’t think?

OP posts:
Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:41

This doesn’t really add anything as you can’t really see how deep it is, but here’s a pic of the crate!

It's probably my Chihuahua, his piss can get anywhere.

QueenOfCatan · 08/12/2019 19:42

I'd say the cat. My sister had a boxed up car seat stored which they found a sneaky shit in when they eventually opened it, the cats were the only explanation but they couldn't work out how one of them got in it!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 08/12/2019 19:43

Definitely cat.

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 08/12/2019 19:44

A cat could get in there. It does look a bit like a litter box.

AwkwardSquad · 08/12/2019 19:45

No other signs of mice, rats or squirrels? We had some stuff in the loft that was ruined by either a rat or a squirrel soiling it, but there were other signs apart from the urine - noise, gnawed cardboard and poo.

Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:49

Princess has he been disappearing from your place at regular intervals to come and piss at mine?!

Here’s the probable culprit then :)!

Oh I thought I’d attached a pic of the cat. I’ll try again.

Thanks for replies by the way.

The dog looks guilty as fuck

Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:51

Awkward, no other signs, no.

OP posts:
Debbit · 08/12/2019 19:52

I think he thinks he’s carrying out covert surveillance on the cat Books

OP posts:
Magstermay · 08/12/2019 19:54

Defo the cat, could easily have front paws on the edge and back paws on the crate. They love to pee in random places sometimes. Probably couldn’t be arsed to walk downstairs!

Magstermay · 08/12/2019 19:55

^back paws on the decs

Freddiemercuarysmoustache · 08/12/2019 19:55

The cat is defo hanging its wee head in shame Grin
