Someone has peed on my Christmas Decs

But who?! I can’t believe I just wrote that, this is a problem I’ve not hitherto encountered in my fairly problem-filled life!

Decorations are stored in an attic room on the top floor of our house. Youngest ds brought them down for me earlier today. Thought I could detect a whiff of something but put it down to the decorations having been packed away for a year.

Got to the crate with the Christmas lights stored in it, and the smell was getting stronger. Pulled the lights out, and sure enough, at the bottom of the crate was, well, piss Shock.

The dc are all adult (youngest is 15), there is no dh, there is an elderly cat but think he probably couldn’t be bothered to climb into what is quite a deep crate, there is a young dog who I would definitely suspect if he wasn’t a sausage dog and would (I think) find it physically impossible to get into (and out of) the crate. All human suspects are denying any knowledge and I have to say I believe them! Wtf?!!

Over to you folks!

It’s definitely the cat

Adenosine · 09/12/2019 21:22

Lol @ the idea of a municipal dump being contaminated by "unidentified piss". What, in case it was Kraken?

Debbit · 11/12/2019 00:18

I don’t think they would have noticed/minded Adenosine, I expect they’ve seen worse. But I did clean it first, honestly!

Cat’s wee has a very distinctive smell. I have lots of pets and they all smell very different. I could easily tell one from the other (I have a strange talent).

Going by the box, I’d say the cat. They love weeing on stuff too.

Kinsters · 11/12/2019 04:05

My money would also be on the cat - that's just the kind of thing a cat would do. My parents one used to pee in the fireplace, on bags left on the floor...anywhere she liked the feel of!

Osirus That's impressive! I can tell my two's poop smells apart. I can tell their wees apart in the litter box because of how they clump but couldn't identify wee by smell.

Deathraystare · 11/12/2019 08:46

Will you all stop blaming the poor cat?! It is deffo the dog. He even looks guilty.

Cosmos45 · 11/12/2019 08:54

I suspect it's mice but only because this is exactly what happened to my xmas decorations last year. they were stored in the Garage in the roof - so a hatch door and ladder to get upstairs in the garage and opened the box and the stench was unbelievable..

Debbit · 11/12/2019 09:17

Deathray - is this the face of a sneaky pisser?

Cat’s piss absolutely stinks to high heaven! There’ll be no mistaking it if it’s cat’s wee!

Somanysocks · 11/12/2019 09:47

Your wee doggy has a Poirot moustache in that picture which means he is innocent. It must be the cat.

Debbit · 11/12/2019 15:56

Somany he wishes he was as clever as Poirot! And so do I :). But yes, I must agree with you all and point the finger at the cat. Strange though as he’s never done anything like that before.

Well, not that I know of. Maybe he’s been pissing in obscure corners of my house for years!

Definitely cats.

They pee in the weirdest of places. Bastards 😂
