Someone has peed on my Christmas Decs

But who?! I can’t believe I just wrote that, this is a problem I’ve not hitherto encountered in my fairly problem-filled life!

Decorations are stored in an attic room on the top floor of our house. Youngest ds brought them down for me earlier today. Thought I could detect a whiff of something but put it down to the decorations having been packed away for a year.

Got to the crate with the Christmas lights stored in it, and the smell was getting stronger. Pulled the lights out, and sure enough, at the bottom of the crate was, well, piss Shock.

The dc are all adult (youngest is 15), there is no dh, there is an elderly cat but think he probably couldn’t be bothered to climb into what is quite a deep crate, there is a young dog who I would definitely suspect if he wasn’t a sausage dog and would (I think) find it physically impossible to get into (and out of) the crate. All human suspects are denying any knowledge and I have to say I believe them! Wtf?!!

Over to you folks!

Brilliant thread OP Grin
Love the photo and the fact you can't see the dog until you click on it!

Somanysocks · 08/12/2019 19:59

OP there is a dog where a stair case spindle thing should be be. I don't know if you've noticed? 🤣 love the dog!! And the cat looks guilty AF

Debbit · 08/12/2019 20:07

I’d not realised before looking at that pic how well the cat matches the woodwork!

Do we think it’s a team effort then and it’s the pets v me and my decs?!

AwkwardSquad · 08/12/2019 20:09

I think it was the dog. He walked his little legs up the side and peed over the edge. You can tell from his expression.

Celebelly · 08/12/2019 20:12

Must be the cat. Mine pissed on our doorstop/draft excluder thing a couple of months ago and it drove me mental getting a whiff of piss all the time but being unable to find it. Eventually discovered that poor Agnes the Highland cow had been pissed on multiple times Sad

DartmoorChef · 08/12/2019 20:15

Is it possible the cat could have done it last year just before you put the decorations away?

Adenosine · 08/12/2019 20:17

I think it was Christopher Eccleston.

Someone has peed on my Christmas Decs
Chunkers · 08/12/2019 20:17

Could it have been peed in before they were put away last year? Not sure if the smell would get better or worse over the course of a year!

Natsel84 · 08/12/2019 20:18

Does it smell like cats wee ?

Love your picture !

Pipandmum · 08/12/2019 20:18

Cat. My elderly (23) one used to pee in the printer tray, dressing up box... she could still climb and jump pretty well but man she drove me nuts with the peeing!

Wallabyone · 08/12/2019 20:18

This thread is cracking me up 😂😂 You need to send the pee off for testing!

FleetwoodMacMummy · 08/12/2019 20:19

It was me....

FVFrog · 08/12/2019 20:23

Great picture, definitely the dog...and I love your phone!

tilder · 08/12/2019 20:24

Cat. Always the cat. Our cat used to pee on the gas cooker. I couldn't work it out as it disappeared into the cooker so you couldn't see it but could smell it burning...

The cat couldn't jump onto the sofa (elderly) but somehow managed to get on the cookerConfused

Debbit · 08/12/2019 20:25

Cele oh poor Agnes. Did you bath her or throw her out?

Adenosine if it was Christopher, then I forgive him :)

Wouldn’t the piss have evaporated if the cat had done it last year?

It was probably your husband. Does he drink?

Nats it smells quite strong but I can’t definitively say it smells of cat pee. Although thanks to you knowledgeable folks I’m
thinking that that is indeed what it is!

Wallaby if you send me your address, I’ll send you a sample!

FV thank you :)

Fleetwood you are very naughty and Santa will not be visiting you this year if it was you using my crate.

Debbit · 08/12/2019 20:33

I don’t have a dh madcatlady (very apt username!).

flouncy it probably was the cat if this thread is anything to go by. But don’t be making the mistake that the dog is an innocent. He is very naughty indeed, even if peeing on my Xmas lights isn’t (yet) in his repertoire :)

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/12/2019 20:34

I had a crate just like that with my bags in. One of my cats had been using it as a nice private spot for piddling. Nice soft leather underfoot. All bags ruined!
