Because I don't believe in socialism/communism.

Elementary00 · 08/12/2019 13:38

Well the JRM one isn’t true - that’s not what he said.

hamstersarse · 08/12/2019 13:41

Another smug virtue signalling labour voter

Boringgggggg

MustardScreams · 08/12/2019 13:41

Seriously. Still not seen a single Tory imbecile show which policies are going to benefit everyone, not just the 1%.

And fully costed of course.

Hey Tory Voters
PixieDustt · 08/12/2019 13:42

So many Tory bashing threads. Jeremy is that you?

I'm not sure on who I'm voting for but it's literally all I ever see on a daily basis on here now.

WobblyAllOver · 08/12/2019 13:55

I have already voted (postal vote) so anyone trying to change my mind is wasting their breath.

The issue I have is the fact that certain individuals can't cope with others have a different opinion and name calling, whether it's against labour, conservatives or the other parties, just reflects badly on the person throwing the insults about.

Luckylassiam · 08/12/2019 14:01

How can people vote for a terrorist sympathiser? Or Momentum? That’s who is running Labour now. It’s why they haven’t got rid of Corbyn even though he’d have been long gone in any other party. I don’t want want full state control either. That’s the goal of Corbyn. Lunatic. I’d never, ever vote Labour under him and I’m glad to see that he won’t get in power either. Country would go down the pan.

Luckylassiam · 08/12/2019 14:04

And the name calling and threats from the left are a disgrace. I though it was meant to be ‘kinder, gentler politics’? I’ve never seen so much frothing from the left. I’d be ashamed. I really would. The left has taken on a very dark turn and I want fuck all to do with it

Patroclus · 08/12/2019 14:36

You all vote to support the DUP, so the 'terrorist' sympathiser' stuff is just more parroting of bullsit from your hate rags.

Lolalovesmarmite · 08/12/2019 15:40

I’m voting Conservative because....

  • They have a more credible economic plan. No, it isn’t perfect (very far from) but it’s significantly safer than the Labour offering.
  • I don’t want another year of wrangling whilst Labour renegotiate a Brexit deal then hold yet another referendum.
  • Linked to the above. I don’t want British politics to be held to ransom by Scottish nationalists and their agenda which will result in....wait for it....yet another referendum.
  • I find the Conservatives are significantly stronger in a number of key areas. This isn’t because their pledges are more generous, it’s because their pledges are more measured and reasoned.
  • I simply don’t believe that Labour can achieve what they are offering. I believe that they will try, and will wreck the country in the process. Free broadband was where they lost me completely. Unnecessary and symptomatic of the pie in the sky Labour approach to economic planning.
  • Fanatics of any flavour frighten me and I really don’t like bullies. I’ve seen a lot of accusations that Tories are bullies etc but I’ve also seen first hand a lot of incredible vile, vitriolic and threatening behaviour from Labour supporters. The hypocrisy is pretty staggering. I’d rather have someone knowingly lying to further their own ambitions than I would have a fanatic refusing to acknowledge facts because they don’t fit with their world view. An ambitious liar is rational. A fanatical liar is not.
  • I believe the Conservative party can temper their zealots significantly more easily than the Labour Party can.
  • The evidence of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party is frightening. So is the refusal of so many supporters to acknowledge that there is a problem.

It’s incredibly telling that so many Conservative voters justify their vote with their fears about Corbyn, Momentum and the economic madness they are proposing. That tells me that so many of them, like me, aren’t voting for the Conservatives because they are strong supporters of the party. It tells me that, again like me, they feel they have no real choice because the alternative is madness. I’m not a dyed in the wool Tory, very far from it, I would love to vote for Labour. I would love to have a compassionate, reasonable middle ground option on the ballot paper. But that option simply isn’t there with the Labour Party as it currently is. I’ve researched my vote carefully, as it is important, and concluded that despite all the things that I acknowledge are wrong with Boris Johnson and his Conservatives, the alternative is far far worse. The refusal of so many to acknowledge the issues with Corbyn, McDonnell and Momentum speaks volumes. If it looks like a personality cult and sounds like a personality cult, then chances are, it’s a personality cult. Threads like this only confirm my opinion about the fanatics within the party. So, here is my plea: if you lose on Thursday (and I hope you do), have a really careful consideration about who your next leader should be and what direction your party should be moving in. I’d love to vote for you next time, I really don’t want the Tories to be my only option (because I don’t like them very much), so please ditch the fanatics, bullies and hypocrites. Please pick a reasonable, sensible and competent leader and come up with some half believable policies. Then you’ve got my vote back.

SlowAndWild · 08/12/2019 15:55

This thread is depressing. What a load of childish shite. Grow up. And to think some of you are allowed to voteConfused.

ForeverFaff · 08/12/2019 16:27

I'm voting conservative. And every time I see a smashed up 'vote conservative' placard or billboard, I remember that it's not conservative voters like me who are doing this.

Why would I vote with the sort of people who creep about at night vandalising things?

Cookerybookaddict · 08/12/2019 16:48

And every time I see a smashed up 'vote conservative' placard or billboard, I remember that it's not conservative voters like me who are doing this.

We have this problem in our constituency too, the only difference is that it's a very tight lab/lib marginal and all the signs/posters which have been smashed up and vandalised belong to the lib dems. They (Momentum) have also been trying their hardest to smear our lib dem candidate. Utterly sickening - I cannot understand why anyone would vote for the current Labour party.

porridging · 08/12/2019 16:51

I’m not voting conservative because I care about the millions of children in poverty. Im not taking an ‘I’m alright Jack’ attitude. I can’t support a party who’s allowed disabled and poor to suffer. I can’t support a party that has paid the political wing of a terrorist organisation that has killed hundreds. I care about the NHS. I’m worried because to date tories have far higher spending than labour (adjusted for years in power). I can’t vote for a misogynistic sexist racist liar, or a party that’s previously had a leader who liked pigs

Besides this made me chuckle

Hey Tory Voters
SlowAndWild · 08/12/2019 17:52

It is crazy to say that the 42% or so of people voting Conservative don't care about the NHS/disabled/pensioners etc. These sweeping generalizations are just ridiculously stupid.

porridging · 08/12/2019 18:26

Why is it crazy? That’s what happening at the moment and it will continue if the tories remain there. You’re voting for more of the same Hmm

marvellousnightforamooncup · 08/12/2019 18:31

Well quite Porridging. Presumably if you vote for someone, you like their policies. Tory policies aren't all that for the NHS/disabled/pensioners to be fair.

MustardScreams · 08/12/2019 18:37

Well they can’t care can they? Or they wouldn’t vote Tory. You can’t care about the NHS, education, disabled people if you’re voting to make their lives hellish.

Snowjive2 · 08/12/2019 18:48

None of the Tories on this thread have addressed the OP’s point. Her simple and obvious question is, how do you reconcile yourself to the vile things that Tories say?

Please focus on that. The answer is not “Corbyn”, because he does not say these vile things.

whiteroseredrose · 08/12/2019 19:17

I used to vote Labour. I'd love to be able to do so now because their environment and animal welfare policies are great. With a moderate leader I would. But the economic policies are too loony left for me. I'd fear for my DH's job and my own pension. We're at a stage where we're too old to start again.

I remember the last time we had a Socialist Government in the 1970s and it was crap. Strikes and power cuts. The IMF bailing us out. We ended up with 18 years of Thatcher and the Conservatives as a consequence.

I'm going to vote Green (I agree with a lot but not all of their policies) and hope that Labour get an absolute pasting so that they get rid of Corbyn and Momentum and start operating in today's world. Then they might be electable again.

Let's face it. The last election should have been a walkover for Labour with all the Tory chaos but they still didn't win.

slipperywhensparticus · 08/12/2019 19:19

It's amazing everyone screams Corbyn is an IRA sympathiser but the conservatives have a member in there party but that's "ok"

Snowjive2 · 08/12/2019 19:41

Slippery are you thinking of Maria Gatland, Tory councillor for South Croydon and former member of the IRA? She resigned from the Conservative party when they found out, but they’ve since let her back in again. As they do.

Butterisbest · 08/12/2019 19:47

Oh my, I've just completely changed my mind about my voting preference because of a post on Social Media. Said nobody ever.

Snowjive2 · 08/12/2019 19:59

Butter you must be new to this. The material in the picture which the OP posted isn’t opinion or impression. It’s factual - real Tory leaders really said these things. Vile things.

So again, any Tory voters able to explain how they reconcile themselves to what their leaders have said?

Catkin8 · 08/12/2019 20:44

@brightonroc 'I also read somewhere that they have smaller brains, perhaps it's all linked??'

The hypocrisy of you bemoaning the ugly comments on this thread and then stating this about Conservative voters. Hmm
