I still think Bob Mortimer is bloody lovely.

I loved him in the 90s in shooting stars. I still love him now he's nearly 60 and I'm pushing 40.

He's lovely and cuddleable.

I have had a drink and am watching Big Night Out.

I have either him or Vic. Either. Or Both 😊

Cruddles · 06/12/2019 20:53

Andy needs to play the straight guy to Bob's madness, too often he tries to compete and takes Bob's ideas (wife's questions, price quiz, did a sketch about the Alderman), he just needs to give Bob the platform. Andy does little for me, i did like his Mark Lawrenson though

enjoyingscience · 06/12/2019 20:57

He’s a national treasure. Athletics mince is the best, and the new vic and Bob is just full of proper joy. Their parkour bit, and the ghost hunting, just properly kills me. So funny.

enjoyingscience · 06/12/2019 20:58

And Peter Beardsley. I call them poachies in our house now and the kids don’t know why I find it so funny.

Neil Hunt: Nonsense Potter

glitterbiscuits · 06/12/2019 21:01

I read he defended Jarvis Cocker over the Michael Jackson stage invasion.
I hope it's true!

KurriKurri · 06/12/2019 21:45

I love him - always have, - he makes me cry laughing. Such a funny funny man, and so completely lovely.
I loved the fishing programme with Paul Whitehouse - something about a good friendship like that, that makes you feel all warm inside.
I really hope Bob (and Paul) stay well for many years to come

StrayWoman · 06/12/2019 21:47

@enjoyingscience does your DP ever ask for a go on your fronties? Grin

Just popping on to agree with a pp his Desert Island 🏝 Disc episode was brilliant!! I was just recommending it to friends the other day.

redexpat · 06/12/2019 21:56

Come aaaa long and lets start shooting staaaaaars ba ba da, ba ba ba da ba da, ba ba da ba!

foxessocks · 06/12/2019 22:02

Thanks because this thread made me watch the Bob Mortimer best bits on would I lie to you on you tube, I've seen them all before but I have been crying with laughter!!! He's absolutely hilarious.

foxessocks · 06/12/2019 22:03

I urge you all to watch it on you tube, the one where he talks about the owl cushion! "Steve I really can't impress upon you enough how sick this bird was" 😂

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/12/2019 22:09

I love him too. But he looks exactly like my dad, which is odd.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 06/12/2019 22:19

Ray Mears. Nuff said.
I’ve been a fan since Big Night Out and can’t believe he’s 60!

PrivateSpidey · 06/12/2019 22:33

katseyes is that Judge Nutmeg that you're thinking of?!
Grin

TurnipToffee · 06/12/2019 23:47

He used to be a solicitor - he must have been a riot to work with.

IlsSortLaPlupartAuNuitMostly · 06/12/2019 23:54

I do love him. Somebody said that any TV programme he appears on instantly becomes An Audience With Bob Mortimer, and if you said it about anyone else it would be a bit nasty, but about Bob it’s completely true but in the nicest way.

HetHetHet · 07/12/2019 00:06

katseyes7 The Wotsit wig! I had forgotten all about that! I love a look at that when I need cheering up. Grin

I'm a huge fan and I love Athletico Mince too. I've got a couple of great AM/Bob Christmas presents for DH. One is a Slaughters restaurant t-shirt ("Meaty Heroes!") and the other is a signed print of cat names, complete with a personalised message from the man himself!

I adore "Peter Beardsley's" letters to Bob.

HetHetHet · 07/12/2019 00:08

I would also like to give him a cuddle. He truly cheers my heart. Star

efeslight · 07/12/2019 01:13

Another big fan here, his little innocent face is so lovely. Love him on would i lie to you and the fishing show. Athletico mince is often filthy but i like it 😂

DoctorTwo · 07/12/2019 01:15

Bob Mortimer is the funniest man in Britain.

Gone Fishing is imo a great piece of nonsense tv. Made by two friends who take the piss out of each other.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 07/12/2019 01:21

'And what are you going to do ??

You're going to roll the batteries, that's what you're going to do '

20 plus years on that line still has me choking Grin

Tillygetsit · 07/12/2019 03:48

I have always loved Bob. I thought I was a bit odd for having a crush on him but according to this thread, apparently not! Vic Reeves is always a bit too stagey somehow. I've always maintained that Bob is the comedy genius. Just gorgeous!

ForalltheSaints · 07/12/2019 07:38

He is this generation's Ernie Wise and just as funny.

TooMuch87 · 07/12/2019 07:55

I was in the audience for a House Of Fools recording a few years ago. When the show was over and the audience were leaving he came outside and shook hands with everyone. I’ve always thought he was a really nice man since then. I’ve been to a lot of television show recordings and he’s the only one to have done that.
