Things your neighbours do which are reasonable but irritate the bejesus out of you

Mine trundle their bins out at 11pm. Under my bedroom window. Wakes me up every week.

He has a banjo which he plays badly. He's playing it now. At least he practices?

Not the crimes of the century but I do want to give them the stink eye.

Our nasal neighbour has gone on holiday Xmas Grin - I hope it's a round the world trip.

scrappydappydoo · 03/12/2019 15:56

Our grumpy neighbour always shouts at my dc for making too much noise and playing in our back garden but then goes and loudly plays football in the street with the kids opposite.

Coniferhedge · 03/12/2019 16:22

My neighbours are football mad. The son is constantly out in the garden after school and at weekends and it’s a constant thud, thud, thud as he kicks the ball about. Thankfully this is confined to the lighter months so it’s not too bad at the minute. Also, they like to watch their favourite team when a match is on tv. The Mum is a bit into performance parenting and every time they score a goal, you’d think she’d won a million pounds. ‘WOOOOHOOOOOO!! COME ON!!! GET IN!!’ and so on at the top of her voice.

Oh, and they have a yappy small dog that insists on barking at everything, even a mouse farting in the garden it would seem.

BeyondMyWits · 03/12/2019 16:41

Ours swaps his cars around. 3 of them. Constantly. Though when he takes the wheelybins out he scrapes them against our wall keeping them away from the side of his cars.

But he picked our daughter up from the airport once when we had an absolute crisis. I will always be in his debt for that.

50shadesoflunacy · 03/12/2019 16:45

Breathe! And park their car ridiculously so I struggle to get in and out of mine (shared driveway)

CottonSock · 03/12/2019 17:00

Never cutting trees and hedges.
Leaving tons of rubbish.
Smoking so much weed we smell via electric sockets!

MumOf1plusBump · 03/12/2019 17:04

Apartment above us seem to move furniture constantly, scraping it along the floor. It's totally reasonable as in fairness, they're probably just moving a chair out to sit at the table etc, but it sounds so loud to us, and it's normally just when I've got DD down to sleep Grin

Chocolatecake12 · 03/12/2019 17:13

Mines a parking issue with my otherwise lovely neighbours. Room on the drive for 2 vehicles which are used by vehicles that never move - they are projects and an eyesore. Then they have 3 cars they park on the road. It’s a small cul de sac. Annoying but not a crime and other than that they’re great!

alphasox · 03/12/2019 17:32

They have those twinkly Christmas lights all around their front window and a flashing sign that says “Santa please stop here for ”
Bah humbug Xmas Grin

EggysMom · 03/12/2019 17:34

Calls her daughter in from play/back to the house at the absolute top of her voice ... voice like a foghorn .... But they've never once complained about noise from our house (autistic son) so I can't say anything.

StormTreader · 03/12/2019 17:40

She squeals, and squeals and squeals. And shouts. And has big groups of people round who laugh loudly and innanely for hours. And someone or something in the house thunders back and forwards on their upstairs landing in the evening. And they have the loudest sex EVER, I have to put loud podcasts on to drown them out!

nakedavengeragain · 03/12/2019 17:47

Exuberant leaf blowing. They are retired but keep this special activity for weekends and public holidays
Basketball playing in their front yard; Thump,thump,thump...bonk...thump
Leave at 6am in their car but spend 10 minutes pissing about opening and shutting doors with the radio at full volume

All different neighbours.

nottoday3000 · 03/12/2019 18:01

Right I'm going to take my wind chimes down ..in the morning too cold now!!! We have residential parking yet my neighbours gentleman caller doesn't park on her drive (which is big enough) he parks outside someones house! it's giving me a slight rage right eyebrow lift !!!! The parking selfishness round here is truly another level but that's another thread with diagrams for another day!!!!

Billielee · 03/12/2019 18:06

My neighbour had a bonfire every early evening for 2.5yrs. I remember the day when we moved him & he was out the garden with a head lamp & we laughed. Thought he was abit of a character. A year later after falling pregnant & rearranging bedrooms. My 6 yr old to the back of the house. And nursery to middle. I'd got up in the night & our house was full of smoke. I paced the hallways as a crazy persons. I was fuming. However approached neighbour & said. 2days of the week were not there. He could burn to his hearts content. Or send me a quick text so I can close my windows. Baby arrived & it happened again.😡 Let's just say I wasn't calm the second time. He's never had a bonfire again & now we don't speak 😃 However I speak to his wife though. And she always gives what I assume a grateful smile 👍🏾😃

Lionso · 03/12/2019 18:13

Flashing christmas lights which shine directly into my bedroom window. Even with blackout curtains it still makes it look like police cars are parked outside with the flashing blue lights. It drives me mad. And they leave them on all night.

Flashing exterior lights are really obnoxious.

chocolateisavegetable · 03/12/2019 18:50

@nottoday3000 please be my neighbour, please be my neighbour ...

Glitterb · 03/12/2019 18:54

Leaves her bin outside of our house for weeks because she cannot be bothered to put it away, claims she has OCD though 🙄 screams and shouts at her daughter constantly and slams doors, a real treat!

BlueJava · 03/12/2019 19:00

Our neighbours are lovely, we very rarely hear them and never beyond say 10:30pm. But they seem to have extreme anxiety about being good neighbours! They often whatsapp apologising for noise we have never heard, they say sorry for having guests leave late, sorry for the kids party, if they see us outside they ask if there was noise. I can honestly say that none of us have ever worried about anything they've done, but their constant apologising is a bit trying! It's also made me concerned that they are trying to tell us we are noisy - but I don't think so as we don't stay up late, don't play music loudly etc.

Deadsouls · 03/12/2019 19:02

Smoke really strong smelling skunk which I can smell in my house when the windows are open

CookPassBabtridge · 03/12/2019 19:13

Cut some of the lovely bushes down in their garden. They are awesome neighbours and it doesn't affect me at all, they were just pretty bushes and attracted butterflies Grin One a few doors down cut a gorgeous tree down for his new driveway. I cried silently to myself Blush

OrianaBanana · 03/12/2019 19:23

Ours had a hugely loud fireworks display twice (probably NYE or Bonfire Night or something, so not unreasonable, though my son has sensitivity to loud noises and so got hysterical at the noise) and the bloody poppy things spread cardboard discs all over our lawn on the other side of the fence (and not on theirs).

OopsieDaisyB · 03/12/2019 20:04

Puts their laundry out whatever the weather! The only annoying thing about them that I know I'm being unreasonable about, all the fighting, banging, smashing and swearing is totally justified annoyance!

Jodie77 · 03/12/2019 20:06

Smoke.

nottoday3000 · 03/12/2019 20:06

@chocolateisavegetable can't be your neighbour but I've got a nice wind chime (bamboo) should you like it!!!! X

DanielleMcGivern · 03/12/2019 20:09

Decides to have long phone calls as soon as I get into to bed, he lives underneath me so I hear every single word said until I fall asleep. It's like he knows I'm in bed and finds someone to phone
