Things your neighbours do which are reasonable but irritate the bejesus out of you

Mine trundle their bins out at 11pm. Under my bedroom window. Wakes me up every week.

He has a banjo which he plays badly. He's playing it now. At least he practices?

Not the crimes of the century but I do want to give them the stink eye.

Fuck it ! I've braved the cold 🥶 it's down (the wind chime) not the neighbourhood..mores the pity...😂

DancingPyjamas · 03/12/2019 20:22

Whenever they have sex, which they do fairly quietly to be fair until he, I assume, climaxes. Then he lets out like a massive long drawn out kind of roar.
Like UUUUUUAAAAAAgh h h h ......h.
For some reason it gives me the giggles.

chocolateisavegetable · 03/12/2019 20:29

@nottoday3000 You are my hero. Seriously - thank you on behalf of all wind chime sufferers Smile

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 03/12/2019 20:46

Ours are insufferably cheerful and chatty at all times of the day.

nottoday3000 · 03/12/2019 20:56

@chocolateisavegetable I would of set light to it but the smell this time of night might be worse than the noise!! I have seen/heard the error of my ways !! I could set up a group the wind chime nickers society you could hire me to go in stealth like to pinch the neighbours wind chimes noise of them might give me away tho !!!!!

DragonforaMIL · 03/12/2019 21:07

@toria658 do you live near me? My neighbours like to start their boat before 8 on a Sunday. Makes me rage!

wasthatamistake · 03/12/2019 21:30

Two yappy dogs who live in their living room which is right above our only bedroom and bark constantly when the owners are out (most days 8am until 4pm and at least 4 evening a week until 11pm).

@Witsendagain that's horrendous! And not reasonable of them at all. I'd complain!

chocolateisavegetable · 03/12/2019 21:32

@nottoday3000 I think you should pitch that idea on Dragons Den!

Untamedtoad · 03/12/2019 21:39

Smoke... And tbh I don't think it's reasonable actually as I don't want to inhale their second hand smoke 😷

Jodie77 · 03/12/2019 21:51

@Untamedtoad

I know it gets in under my front door from one neighbour and then I open my windows and breath in what my other neighbours are smoking in their garden. I can't get away from it, and nor can my chesty baby.

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 03/12/2019 21:56

Close internal doors late at night.

whatthehelldowecare · 03/12/2019 22:00

The neighbour across the road used to for some known reason drive in the street, right to the end, turn about and then drive into his drive - for absolutely no apparent reason, doesn't make it a better angle or anything. He put his house up for sale and we were delighted to be getting rid of him, but the new people have started doing it too!!!

DP thinks it might be something to do with not wanting to clip the kerb, but it is so so so so so SO annoying

Illeana · 03/12/2019 22:02

My neighbour parks partially across my drive, behind my classic car which is under a cover and only gets driven at weekends in fine weather. He’s not exactly blocking me in, we both know I won’t be driving the car today. It just annoys me that he’s parked across my drive and I’d have to knock if I wanted to get the car out.

NoHummus · 03/12/2019 22:03

Mine plays the piano. I know there are far worse things she could be doing, but it's so irritating as whatever she plays is very repetitive and I can only hear the low notes and it's just a dirge. We're moving soon and I'm so tempted to mock up a flyer for piano lessons and put it through her letterbox as a parting gift. Grin

Bargebill19 · 03/12/2019 22:05

Ours have really annoying electric gates - they interfere with our tv signal.

Strictly1972 · 03/12/2019 22:07

@RidgedPerfection I had a neighbour who did this but it was almost industrial smelling when he burnt whatever it was. I complained to the council & it stopped. I’ve noticed I’ve become the grumpy neighbour of the street in recent years! I was pleased with that achievement though. My current gripe is the number of vans on our street. I get a lot of rage about them but hopefully it will calm down soon.

Mothership4two · 03/12/2019 22:10

Every single sunny day mows the lawn/cuts the hedge/does outdoor diy very noisily.

Jinglyshoeswithbellson · 03/12/2019 22:14

Communicates with Alexa from the garden.
Alexa struggles with my ndn's accent.
All neighbours can hear their conversation(s) and ndn getting more and more annoyed, it's hilarious Xmas Grin

Same ndn have yappy dogs, frigging things react to leaves falling off trees but ndn doesn't correct the behaviour just lets them yap.

Richlyfruited · 03/12/2019 22:14

Mine cut lumps out of my hedge over the summer (which they were entitled to do as overhanging their garden) but now it looks shit and there's great big gaps in it!! Annoyingly now I can see them wandering around naked as they don't shut their bedroom curtains at night Hmm

Not a huge issue in the scheme of things but I'm definitely keeping my curtains shut until it grows back Grin

lilgreen · 03/12/2019 22:16

Same as you OP. Our neighbours are home all day but put their bins out every time at 10.30/11pm just as I’m dropping off to sleep. It does my head in!!!Angry

Dollymixture22 · 03/12/2019 22:20

Sings - at the top of his lungs - badly. Awful.

Slams doors.

Keeps own garden immaculate but leaves all shared space to me.

AntiHop · 03/12/2019 22:20

Have the TV on A LOT which we can hear in half the house. I don't think the TV is particularly loud, but the walls are terrible. I'm grateful that they rarely play music, as that would be really hard go zone out.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 03/12/2019 22:21

Smoke outside their back door right next to our kitchen window. in summer the stench wafts thru our house and I have to close the kids windows too in the evening. their kids scream in polish all hours of the day, they play pish europop thru the walls, their stairs have no carpets so its like a herd of elephants at 6am, he has 5 part worked on cars out the front, his dirty gloves are left on our drive.....jeez that's a long list.
Having said that, they're really nice folk! Our kids play together (my son understands swear words in polish!!), they share birthday cake with us and they called the fire brigade when our house went on fire.
They're good folk.
We probably annoy the fuck out of them too!

Iwantacookie · 03/12/2019 22:32

Woman opposite but diagonal for some reason has started parking in the TINY (where you struggle to fit a car) none dropped kerb between mine and next door which makes it impossible to pull on/off my drive without going over the garden.
Wouldn't mind if she pulled a few feet further down to INFRONT of my house where there is plenty of space.
Bloke whose garden backs onto mine has pigeons bloody god awful birds that attract rats. Hes always chatting to someone in his garden about various birds etc. Hate birds and pigeons are the worst.

fanniboz · 03/12/2019 22:42

I've thought of another. One neighbour parks his car in the last available space near our house. He only got it a few months ago and I'm still having lessons, haven't got to the car buying stage yet. Now he has a car there's absolutely nowhere for me to park except out on another street further away so I can never just get out my house and straight into the car. A total non issue right now but every time I see his car I get the rage for future me Angry
