If so, which one? I was very disorganised this year, as I normally have a pork scratching one, but couldn't find one this year. I've gone for a lindt one instead...

Holland & Barratt didn't seem to have their sugar free chocolate one this year, which has made me a little sad as I've had it many years running. Those almost flavourless blocks of waxy chocolate substitute tasted like Christmas to me (though they certainly didn't taste like chocolate).

So I've bought myself a lottery scratchcard that's an advent calendar. For a traditional Christmas like what Dickens had.

I've got Molton brown one this year - v lucky
Kids and Dh have Cadbury ones

KilljoysDutch · 01/12/2019 18:36

I have for once, I swapped 6 envelopes with 4 people in my happy mail group so I have no idea what any of it is and some of it has come from abroad which is more exciting. This morning was 2 sachets of coffee and sweets from Spain.

opening cupboard doors and eating whatever's in there 🤣🤣🤣
Love that concept!
I've been given a hand made one by my DD14, wrapped up things she made or found round the house and dangled on string from a ring binder with a cheerful message each day. She hasn't quite finished it yet, but today's was a paper snowflake inside.
Also we have 2 traditional ones sent by my dad and for the first time I've treated us to a Harry Potter lego cos i'm reading the books for the first time, love HP in his xmas jumper!

CatsForLife · 01/12/2019 18:55

I stopped buying the toy ones last year as the DC doesn’t didn’t seem to enjoy it as much as I wanted them to for the price! I bought a traditional picture one last year and we are re-using it this year as well as a new picture one. I love the mindfulness one. What a lovely idea. We try to do a reverse one for food bank but it’s usually just a food bank shop and drop off nearer Christmas.

DH managed to accidentally get me an Angry birds one... A mixture of chocolate and angry birds toys. He thought it was a chocolate one.
I got him a Heroes one- and didn't leave it to 30th November. But he meant well.

My mum got DDs and I a Lego one (and DH a cheese one) so not all is lost.

SpaceDinosaur · 01/12/2019 19:11

DD has a homemade advent calendar. Each day has another character or animal for her nativity scene and a chocolate coin.

DH has a whisky advent calendar

I sorted those two out.

DH bought me a Lindt calendar and a bottle of gin! Result!

MyNewBearTotoro · 01/12/2019 19:14

I’ve just got a Swizzels one.

DownstairsMixUp · 01/12/2019 20:37

Yep. I've got a toblerone, kids have a Percy pig one each and oh has a Lindt

safariboot · 01/12/2019 21:32

Cheese calendars represent!

Blingismything · 01/12/2019 21:38

I have just ordered the L'Occitane one as it is 20% off in M&S.

weegiemum · 01/12/2019 21:51

After several years of asking, I have a cheese one! I'm so excited.

In our house
I have cheese
Dd1 has Lindt
Ds has kinder surprise
Dd2 has reeses
Dd1's boyfriend (here as often as not) has Maltesers

I didn't know I was getting one so didn't bother for dh. I don't think he's too bothered!

lucysmam · 01/12/2019 22:03

I have a Galaxy one; and made myself a one where you open windows/doors to reveal a picture, from a free printable on a website that I downloaded.

The girls have Malteasers and refillable ones. The refillable have a few small gifts, a few things to do, and some chocolate coins.

rslsys · 01/12/2019 22:12

I got the Wera one!!!!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/12/2019 22:16

I made this one for Gdcs - a decoration to hang on the tree every day. Father Christmas on the 24th of course.

Lego Harry Potter calendar! Day one is (10:30 is too late for it to be a spoiler, right?) a minifig Harry in his Christmas-with-the-Weasley's "H" jumper.

DP's Lego Star Wars (not this year's mind, one from our small stack of buy-when-cheap Lego advent calendars) day one is pants - it's one of the floating sandboats from A New Hope but it's so small it's not really any good.

SpoonBlender · 01/12/2019 22:26

I really wanted a cheese one, but didn't find one this year :(

ElGuardiandenoche · 02/12/2019 14:03

I’ve got the Sewing Quarter TV one. It’s the first one I’ve had in years and I’m really excited to have one that is linked to my hobby.

The kids and DH all have chocolate ones.

Thorilicious · 02/12/2019 19:07

@ElGuardiandenoche oooo, that sounds interesting!

HelenaJustina · 02/12/2019 20:29

Hotel Chocolat dark chocolate calendar

SandyClawsIsComingToTown · 02/12/2019 20:37

I got a Hotel Chocolat milk one but they’ve fucked up and it’s full of horrid dark chocolate! I’m going to have to march in there with DS, last year he had a huge meltdown at they gave us one for free to shut him up Grin
