Robbie Williams’ Christmas Song...

exWifebeginsAgainat46 · 29/11/2019 14:47

...sounds like Phoebe from Friends wrote it.

i love Robbie, seen him live loads, got most of his albums but christ on a fucking bike this song is dreadful. i bet even Gary Barlow winced, and he’s the actual king of cheesy rhyming songs.

time to pack away those tiger underpants, Robbie. your ship has well and truly sailed.

I really, really hate it and I don't mind him really

iklboo · 29/11/2019 14:55

It's dire. Like he had a schools competition to write it.

mrsrhodgilbert · 29/11/2019 14:58

I wondered if there would be a thread about this. He was talking about it on radio2 this morning, he clearly hopes this is going to be played every Christmas and will be his pension. I think it’s dreadful but I can imagine primary school children belting it out. It’s very, very poor songwriting.

Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas, something about Santa.

It's so bad. Makes me think of the the Bill Nighy character from Love Actually.

letmepeeinpeace · 29/11/2019 15:05

Hes visiting Stoke soon. I think he's a twat

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 29/11/2019 15:05

When DH and i heard it last week we were like "Christ, is he skint?" Grin

wonderstuff · 29/11/2019 15:07

I hate it. Don't understand why R2 are getting so excited about it.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 29/11/2019 15:07

YES a thousand times this ^ from @leghairdontcare

Dh and I were hosing ourselves when we heard it...I actually asked if Robbie was trying to be ironic doing the Billy Nighy song

SouthWestmom · 29/11/2019 15:08

Is it the lets not go shopping one? Surely it's a bet?

Whitney168 · 29/11/2019 15:10

Absolutely dire. See also Emma Bunton's new Christmas song (although expectations of Robbie clearly a bit higher than of Emma).

exWifebeginsAgainat46 · 29/11/2019 15:35

there’s a bit in it where he sings ‘forever and ever and ever’ and it’s literally Phoebe Buffay.

i’m sad because i loved robbie but this is the end of the road for us. and THAT, my friend, is CLOSURE.

It's awful. A cynical attempt to boost his PRS royalties on Christmas compilations from here to eternity with a dire Christmas by numbers track.

SeaViewBliss · 29/11/2019 16:28

Bloody hell - that is cheese overload!

HeIenaDove · 29/11/2019 16:29

Im not a fan.

I love the Kevin the Carrot Aldi ads but now they have a bloody Robbie song in them.

HeIenaDove · 29/11/2019 16:33

He has done a Christmas song before a long time ago. It was on a compilation that i bought back in 2001

HeIenaDove · 29/11/2019 16:37

Knew i remembered this right It was called Walk This Sleigh.

exWifebeginsAgainat46 · 29/11/2019 20:13

he actually said on radio 2 earlier that he thinks it will be played as a beloved Christmas classic down the years.

i think he might have lost his perspective a little.

Thebookswereherfriends · 29/11/2019 20:21

Yep, just said to dp this evening how insipid and boring it is. Just saying the word Christmas in a song doesn’t make it a Christmas song.

KeithPartridge · 29/11/2019 20:50

I think that is why he said he did the Millennium song...he said he knew it would be played in the background a LOT during the turn of the century/millennium. He seems to be fixated on being remembered.

Dementedmagpie · 29/11/2019 20:55

My DH and I were discussing recently how well you'd do if you wrote a christmas song, and even if it was not great, it would be played every year....but this takes cheese to a whole new level. I used to love Robbie but this is unbelievably cringeworthy. just when I thought weightwatchers was a new low...

ShinyRuby · 29/11/2019 20:55

I heard it yesterday & couldn't believe what utter shite it was! A Christmas classic indeed, I doubt Slade are too worried.

iklboo · 29/11/2019 20:56

And is it me but does the bit with the kids singing sound really like the 'war is over, if you want it' part of Happy Xmas (War Is Over)?

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 29/11/2019 21:01

It is the worst kind of churned out Christmas dross imaginable. I cringe myself inside out at the thought he doesn't realise he has earned enough money x millions for this pukefest to be unnecessary. When the politicians I am onside with say "actually, hang on a minute, why do

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 29/11/2019 21:04

... why do we need billionaires anyway as they never pay their fair share of tax" it's twits like RW and Jamie Oliver and all the rest of them I think of. As some point it's ok to stop chasing easy cash guys.

SeaWitchly · 29/11/2019 21:15

What is the song called? Trying to find it online but can only seem to find cover versions of other famous Christmas songs Confused
