Tesco delivery saver Xmas slots open up at midnight tonight for those with delivery saver passes. Anyone staying up to get one?

I've never used delivery at Christmas before. What's the general rules/method?

Cloverbeauty · 26/11/2019 06:31

I might but no doubt won't get what I ordered if I do. Grin

CatsGoPurrrr · 26/11/2019 06:34

I've only ever used Tesco, but never had any of my Christmas order missing. For specific Christmas stuff, there is a message that they guarantee you will receive it: as long as you keep it in your order. If you delete , then try to add it again, there's no guarantee.

pippitysqueakity · 26/11/2019 06:35

Last year I got a lovely slot, ordered loads of stuff, then gradually things got removed from by basket so that if I had relied on Tesco, at Xmas we would have been having soup and apples. Did email them to query and was told xmassy things sell out at Xmas. Really? Did not fill me with confidence for this year!

FredaFox · 26/11/2019 06:38

Tonight? My message from them said Wednesday night?

StoorieHoose · 26/11/2019 06:39

One minute past midnight tonight Freda

FredaFox · 26/11/2019 06:43

shoot yes, my text said Wednesday, of course 0.01 is Wednesday 🙈
Yes I’ll be staying up, I do it every year. Always got my slot

FredaFox · 26/11/2019 06:44

I’ve always done well with my order, minimal exchanges, think the worst I had was no sprouts really so no hardship

PlugUgly1980 · 26/11/2019 06:53

Asda's opened nearly two weeks ago, and look fully booked!

MadisonAvenue · 26/11/2019 07:39

This is my first year having home deliveries so is it a matter of putting things in the basket beforehand and then booking a slot when they go live?

FaithInfinity · 26/11/2019 07:59

I will be booking ours it tonight. We’ve done it the last 2 years and it works well.

thenightsky · 26/11/2019 17:20

I'm a first timer this year. Scared of doing something wrong!

Can you keep adding stuff to your list right up to nearly the day, or do I have to have my full list ready for midnight tonight and then keep everything crossed that its still available come my delivery date?

EggysMom · 26/11/2019 17:30

Select a few items tonight, and book your slot. You can then add & remove to that list between now and the day before delivery.

I'll be staying up for this!

Keepaddingpets · 26/11/2019 17:31

My alarm is already set as I won't be able to stay awake 😂

Musicalstatues · 26/11/2019 17:32

Yes I am staying up to do this tonight. Have been using Tesco for years and never had a problem with anything major missing from my Christmas order. In fact I seem to recall that the couple of substitutes I’ve had were upgrades so all good!

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 26/11/2019 17:33

I’m staying up to get the slot, going to add a couple of things then check out and do it properly tomorrow.

EggysMom · 26/11/2019 17:34

I'm normally in bed by 10, asleep by 11. So I've got an entire evening planned to keep me awake until midnight!

Pipandmum · 26/11/2019 17:37

Before online delivery I spent 45 minutes in the checkout queue at the super Tesco on the A 3 and then an hour to get out of the parking lot! That truly was nightmare before Christmas!
The only issue I've ever had was a Sainsbury's Christmas delivery when I wanted to update my basket and if I had done that I would not have received a couple specific things (like the turkey crown). But my original shop was safe so didn't update.
I've bought the Good Housekeeping recommended Christmas cake from Waitrose already (and had to order it as was sold out when I went).

thenightsky · 26/11/2019 17:38

OMG.. you have to check out as soon as tomorrow??? Shock I thought I'd have longer than that.

chocolateisavegetable · 26/11/2019 17:52

Yes I'll be staying up tonight to get my slot. Good luck everyone!

Musicalstatues · 26/11/2019 18:00

@thenightsky you check out to book the slot but you change your order up until the night before it’s delivered. I only ever stick a box of mince pies in mine and then check out and just finish the order nearer the time.

thenightsky · 26/11/2019 18:03

Thank you Musical I'll be staying up tonight. I'm an insomniac anyway Grin

thenightsky · 26/11/2019 18:04

Oh dear... I've just thought of another daft question. Will I be allowed two shopping lists... one for the Xmas delivery and one for my next week's regular shopping?

3littlemonkeys82 · 26/11/2019 18:09

You can have as many slots as you like thenightsky we regularly have 3 or more pre booked to come each monday. I think the only rule is 1 delivery per day.

Meckity1 · 26/11/2019 18:57

I have already started getting in the Christmas stuff, so our 3 bird roast is safely in the freezer. I will probably try and snabble a slot first thing tomorrow.

I've had some good experiences with Tesco about Christmas apart from the time when we missed out on a roast. I ended up with a quick delivery from Iceland!

Last year I remember the site practically shut down at 1 minute past midnight, but you could still get some slots the next morning - but they fill up fast.
