What's happening in your house right now?

And what is for dinner?

DH is home from work and we've just finished eating. We had chicken, broccoli and cheddar frittata. We're on mainland Europe so an hour ahead.

We've got to unpack a couple of boxes left over from our move a few weeks ago then we're going to watch and episode of Living With Yourself which we're loving.

I'll have 2 squares of 90% Lindt and some macadamia nuts with a cuppa before an early night so I feel awake enough to go to the gym in the morning.

Single mum here too. I love having the house to myself after baby goes to bed. It's so much more pleasant compared to when ex was around and the atmosphere was a perpetual state of awkward

SimonJT · 19/11/2019 19:47

My son is just asleep and having a cuddle, so I have to stay in for a little while so he doesn’t wake up when I move.

Boyfriend is setting up the new Pokemon game for our ‘wild’ night in before he leaves for a work trip in the morning.

Karwomannghia · 19/11/2019 19:48

I’m on mn whilst cuddling my sleeping dd (3). Haven’t bothered to move yet.
The kids and friend had jacket potatoes and we had masaman curry for tea. Dh tidies up washed up sorted washing and made a fire while I put dd to bed. Dd (13) in room giggling with friend and ds (14) playing on computer game.
Now going to change into pjs and watch debate then apprentice or the crown by the fire with dh.

Moonflower12 · 19/11/2019 19:48

Had various items for supper. DP has a mushroom omelette as it was quick to do before he went to work. DD has chicken nuggets and chips ( food issues so anything is a positive!) and I had smocked mackerel.

Now on the sofa, with DD and Ddog, under a blanket, thinking I ought to light the fire, watching CBBC- reward for doing all her homework.

Beechview · 19/11/2019 19:48

We just had a chicken casserole with mash for dinner.
I’m on the sofa under a blanket all cosy and warm but need to get up and out now to take ds1 to his activity. Ds1 is listening to music and dd is drawing.
Dh is still at work.

ncfortuesday · 19/11/2019 19:51

I'm currently alone catching up with last nights I'm a celeb because I fell asleep half way through and missed it!
My mother is on her way round to visit after my hols and to kindly alter my work uniform for me.

DP will be home in about 45 mins, I haven't made anything for tea because I can't be bothered!!! I'm incredibly jet lagged and today was my first day back to work... I'm running on caffeine and caffeine alone!

Nononononono33 · 19/11/2019 19:54

We’ve had crispy chicken and halloumi salad for dinner - sounds boring but it’s so nice. Legs feeling nicely achy after my (slow) run, I’m just back from injury so taking it slow and happy to achieve anything exercise-wise. Looking forward to two episodes of Suits shortly, will be watching under the furry blanket. I’d love some dessert but being good so just a cup of tea for me!

Lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 19/11/2019 20:02

Hi

@justanotherlemontree

Thanks for your message. Feeling a bit sensitive tonight so your message bought a tear to my eye. Thanks and sorry you have been having ex hassles and have been feeling ill. A drink if you lived next door would be a lovely idea!

Hello to those others doing it on their own too. I do love the time after they go to bed. That time of calm and alone. I have had them on my own for ten years and have mainly been really happy for most of that time.. it's this new phase of extreme moodiness (DD) and not seeming to partake in family life, and DS always choosing fortnite over anything else . We always felt like a little team but now it feels disbanded! . I was just thinking the other day that now would be a great time to be happy with the father of your DC. Less need for babysitters, more time together as a couple.. solidarity against the teens... in many ways I am finding it more lonely than when they were much younger!

Anyway have somewhat hi jacked the thread unintentionally sower. As you were....

Bunnylady53 · 19/11/2019 20:09

Bangers mash & baked beans on the menu but I feel so uncomfortable (my stomach is very tight & painful) - might just have some soup & DH can sort himself out when he gets in. DD on the laptop. Going to watch IACGMOOH later. I keep looking proudly round my kitchen as it’s the cleanest & tidiest it’s been in weeks! Also loving my new pvc wipeclean tablecloth with rainbows 🌈

letsdolunch321 · 19/11/2019 20:16

Home from work, dinner was chicken curry & vegetable rice - wuick and easy. I have a lovely fig & cranberry candle burning steadily. I have hung washing on the airer that finished recently. Phoned family for a quick catchup, now getting bits together for a later work start in the morning.

Shortly, I plan to read a couple of chapters of my library book then it will be bed time.

justgivemewine · 19/11/2019 20:17

Dh is trying to read his new book but constantly interrupted by ds3

I am mumsnetting and drinking wine (of course)

Ds1 is glued to his xbox creating an impressive star wars space battle in minecraft.

Ds2 is chilling watching telly

Ds3 thinks he is some sort of ninja and bouncing around the room demanding dh “watch my moves daddy”

IFartGlitterAndRainbows · 19/11/2019 20:17

Had toad in the hole with roasties and veg for dinner. Kids are now In bed. Dh is washing up and I'm in a nice hot bubble bath eating chocolate and scrolling through mn Wine

Bluewavescrashing · 19/11/2019 20:18

@Bunnylady53 where is your tablecloth from please? 🌈

BabyHazey · 19/11/2019 20:20

Right now I'm watching TV in the kitchen with DDog and DH and DS are having a bath - I've taken that to mean he's on bedtime duties tonight and I will definitely not hear anyone calling for me! DS and I had take away for tea because I've already cooked twice this month and that's at least one time too many for me. DH wasn't hungry (aka wants a beer tea when DS is in bed) so wouldn't cook for us the selfish git. (I shouldn't say that as he does do 99.5% of the cooking but got in late tonight so was too tired to start anything)

I'm basically just killing time til I'm a celeb, DH will spend the rest of the evening upstairs no doubt because he hates the show - which is fine with me because I'm in the room with the food and bought myself a Terry's chocolate orange after the school run this morning. No chance I'm sharing that beaut!

Sewbean · 19/11/2019 20:20

Just back from ds2's parents evening where he got surprising excellent reports from all his teachers. Ds1's nose is out of joint because this evening is about his brother and not him so he's stomping around trying to pick a fight with anyone who will bite. I'm just about to send him to his room then I'm going to watch War of the Worlds. I didn't see it on Sunday

Bacardi101 · 19/11/2019 20:21

Another single mum here!
Tonight has been utter carnage tea has consisted to pizza that was thrown on the floor thanks DD I am now trying to get the stains off the white polo shirt for school before I drag myself into the shower and see if I can be bothered to get something to eat might just have tea and biscuits

TheBestSpoon · 19/11/2019 20:28

I've just sat down after giving 11mo DS his bedtime bf and putting him to bed. We had breaded cod, homemade oven chips, broccoli and peas for dinner before DS's bathtime, and now DH and I are eating cookies and drinking tea while watching Living with Yourself. The Lovely Paul Rudd is my favourite!

ThisYearHasGotToBeBetter · 19/11/2019 20:29

Just finished dinner here. Late night as DD has sport after school.
So DD in shower and DH and I switched on the debate.
About to switch it off again...... Gin

MuseumOfYou · 19/11/2019 20:34

DH and I just finished War of the Worlds and he's gone to collect DD from scouts. We had lamb rogan josh for tea, with left over lamb from the roast - delicious. Just thinking about doing some ironing. Probably will stop thinking about it now and watch more tv.

MustardScreams · 19/11/2019 20:35

@Lemonsaretheonlyfruit oh you’re not bringing the thread down at all. I’m a single mum too and I have many evenings like that. But am so knackered this week I am enjoying the quiet evenings! Hope you’re ok Smile

Cineraria · 19/11/2019 20:37

I'm serving up dinner. DH is putting DCs on the toilet andthen we're going to eat. Veggie sausages, mashed potatoes, carrots, sweetcorn and peas is the meal.

Then I'll bath them, while he clears up the dinner things. I'll get the them dressed and he'll brush their teeth. We'll each settle one in bed and come downstairs. I want to give myself a pedicure and he wants to use a back massaging gadget on his lower back and we need to chat about viewing primary schools for DS1.

minesagin37 · 19/11/2019 20:38

I made queen veggies mince and dumplings with Yorkshire puds and broccoli for dinner. D D dancing in her bedroom to some noise.

DH watching something on Netflix. I'm match betting.

Atalune · 19/11/2019 20:41

lemon. I have nights like that. We all do (in variations)

DH is away.

Took Dd to swimming lessons, came home and had Jacket potatoes. DS on fortnight and then battled the math homework with him. Dd up to bed, then down then back up and now in my bed.

No dinner for me- cannot be assholed. Fire isn’t pumping out heat properly and I have to go and feed the guinea pigs in the rain. Cos the kids forgot.

Flouncysinatra · 19/11/2019 20:42

We’ve finished dinner (sausage and mash with onions and peas), and now chomping on a choc ice as fancied something sweet.

Dh is watching the leaders debate while I’m Mumsnettinf sulking as I wanted to watch master chef

Flouncysinatra · 19/11/2019 20:43

Oh and ddog is snuggled up with me ok the sofa snoring his head off.
