Please hit me with your suggestions!
I loved The Road, I dont mind if it's old or new, just the more realistic the better

Also Black mirror! It's not a film but it's bloody brilliant!

Ilovethekitties · 15/11/2019 21:40

The girl with all the gifts - sublime movie

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 15/11/2019 21:44

Bird box on netflix is ok but the book is better, sam with The girl with all the gifts. It was probably one of my favourite reads a couple of years ago.

SquishySquirmy · 15/11/2019 21:57

Children of men.

tigerbear · 15/11/2019 22:01

An old one: Threads
Fucking terrifying!!!

DuesToTheDirt · 15/11/2019 22:07

Snowpiercer (Netflix). Not sure if I loved it or hated it! It's crazy but forth a watch.

DuesToTheDirt · 15/11/2019 22:08

Grr worth a watch.

Fairylea · 15/11/2019 22:11

Does it have to be a film?

Man in the high castle on amazon prime is AMAZING.

Otherwise Gattaca as someone upthread said. Love that film.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/11/2019 22:11

Excellent thread!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/11/2019 22:22

Not a film but a TV series, In the Flesh. The undead have been treated, and they have to reintegrate into society. Some neat touches, like the community undead nurses who wear black and hand out tasers in case of drug resistance.

PurpleDaisies · 15/11/2019 22:23

If tv series are allowed, Childhood’s end based on the Arthur C Clarke book is good.

NorthEndGal · 15/11/2019 22:26

Series are totally welcome too, and I am so glad I started this thread.

1984 with John Hurt.
Bit of a left field one for you.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 15/11/2019 22:37

The giver

GeriAtric · 15/11/2019 23:14

I enjoyed In Time. It's an interesting concept where people earn - and pay with - time rather than money. The phrase "I don't have the time" is quite literal. Some are living hour to hour, others have billions of years on their clocks.

Timeandtune · 15/11/2019 23:16

On the Beach . Based on the Nevil Shute novel.

mumwon · 15/11/2019 23:39

I watch using you tube & came across short sci fi films from a program called "Dust" some definitely would be classed as dystopian
However
Day after
& On the beach the newer one (2010) which was a (Australian?) tv movie (if you watch this on you tube be aware they break it up but it is worth watching) was away from home no tv licence you tube doesn't count!!!!

Iamcold · 15/11/2019 23:47

Threads is the best dystopian film I’ve seen. Set in 1980s Sheffield

Moominfan · 15/11/2019 23:47

Battle royale gold tier dystopian 👌🏾

aurynne · 16/11/2019 05:52

Never Let Me Go. Warning - have the tissues ready

TanteRose · 16/11/2019 06:21

The Lobster
Bizarre, hilarious, ultimately disturbing - I loved it but it's not for everyone...

m.imdb.com/title/tt3464902/

ProperVexed · 16/11/2019 06:47

I just had to look up "dystopian " in a dictionary. I am clearly very dim......

SurpriseSparDay · 16/11/2019 07:31

... Now you can be ProperSmart!

GeriAtric · 16/11/2019 08:04

Good to learn something new every day ProperVexed Grin Dystopian is basically the opposite of Utopian.

Moominfan · 16/11/2019 12:24

Binging my way through the thirst by Benjamin Warne. Dystopian novel set in a world where all the waters disappeared. Listening to it as an audiobook on borrow box. If you liked the road I think it'll be right up your street
