I used to love both, but went right off Pointless whereas I still love The Chase. Shame, really, as I do like Xander and Richard.
As RomaineCalm says, they have far too few different topics that they regularly draw from.
If you're not at all interested in a particular subject that they pick for a question round, it can last for several minutes; on The Chase, if you find a question boring, there'll be another one along in 20 seconds.
There's also a lot more strategy on The Chase, whereas on Pointless, it's basically just pick the most obscure correct answer and that's it. Also, as has been said, the prize money shouldn't make a difference (it's not like we viewers win it!), but the jeopardy is much more exciting on The Chase where they might win or lose tens of thousands of pounds in the last second. On Pointless, it's usually a £1K prize at stake - they hardly even seem to get many pointless answers and thus add to the jackpot nearly as much as they used to. It can take 20 entire programmes without a winner to get up to prize money of £20K, which is the same amount The Beast or The Governess will add on for a single contestant as their higher offer.
