Just wondering how grim it is that our emergency ‘sick bowl’ is our salad bowl Confused

Funnily enough I've just dispatched dh to retrieve our dedicated one from the garage 🤢

Never used a sick bowl

Toilet training was delivered at a very young age

I don't do sick

64sNewName · 09/11/2019 20:20

No. We just use a big Pyrex bowl - but tbf I cannot remember the last time anyone was actually sick in it. I hand it out as a precaution though.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2019 20:20

Ours is a plastic mixing bowl. It's never actually been puked in so it's the 'magic' sick bowl

wonkylegs · 09/11/2019 20:21

Either use an empty bin (ours are solid plastic ones) or big plastic mixing bowl
It gets washed throughly either way

RickOShay · 09/11/2019 20:21

Grin yes I used to use anything.
Now I have a special sick bowl and I am winning at life and in control of my destiny.

rosesandcashmere · 09/11/2019 20:21

Mine is specific and big and metal. Does the job for HG.

64sNewName · 09/11/2019 20:21

Sorry, I meant no we don’t have a dedicated one. The Pyrex bowl is a regular kitchen bowl.

ShSpecialFriends · 09/11/2019 20:21

We use the step from the bathroom, turned upside down. It's really handy, always in the right place and not gruesome to think about using after!

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 09/11/2019 20:21

Very grim. You clearly empty out the nearest bin and use that.

Heyduggeefordays · 09/11/2019 20:21

Is having a designated sick bowl and actual thing?

I use an everyday bowl - the toilet bowl.

theneverendinglaundry · 09/11/2019 20:22

We've got a cheap plastic mixing bowl from wilko in the wardrobe of each bedroom, just in case. They were only about 50p each iirc.

RandomMess · 09/11/2019 20:22

Bin with carrier bag in it but I did train them to make it to the toilet at a very young age...

I don't do sick or potties!

FrappeLatte · 09/11/2019 20:22

We use one of those plastic ‘kitchen sink’ bowls that also gets used for cleaning DC’s clothes after poonamis and Vanishing tomato stains out of lovely white knitted clothing.

LoisLittsLover · 09/11/2019 20:22

Specific bucket (actually a trick or treating bucket). Using a food bowl is beyond grim imo

ClemDanFango · 09/11/2019 20:22

Ours specific, I couldn't use a bowl someone had been sick in. I'd just relive in my mind and probably be sick myself.

Ciwirocks · 09/11/2019 20:22

Ours is an empty miniature hero’s tub from a couple of Christmases ago. Hasn’t put anyone of the chocolates so far Grin

Thistles24 · 09/11/2019 20:22

Dedicated sick bowl here, it’s a big plastic salad bowl.

triptrapdollydumpling · 09/11/2019 20:22

Yes, it lives in my wardrobe. Always a sense of foreboding when the bowl appears.

Abigwhale · 09/11/2019 20:22

We have a dedicated bucket and we all know where it lives!

Musicalstatues · 09/11/2019 20:23

Yes.... it’s my Joseph Joseph mixing bowl that for some reason dh handed to ds the first time he got a bug. Now it’s the sick bowl😡

Goricki19 · 09/11/2019 20:23

I use a designated bucket - they are less than £1 defs a good investment!

SoggySockRage · 09/11/2019 20:24

We have champagne bucket that was bought for a party - poor thing, such a glamorous start in life, it's taken a serious nosedive!

GrumpyHoonMain · 09/11/2019 20:24

We have a pile of those egg cup ones from the hospital and just use those. GP surgery is quite happy to replace them

Coffeeandchocolate10 · 09/11/2019 20:24

Mop bucket or old baby nappy bucket here.

I don't have very high cleaning standards but using a bowl for food after it's been a sick bowl is a no from me!

I don't know where, but I can vaguely remember some book talking about jam jars being taken on car trips for emergency children's weeks, and being used for food storage too! Grandad was not impressed when the kids exclaimed that he was eating peaches from their pee jar 🤣
