We live opposite a school and there have been problems over the years with idiotic parking. We are opposite the side entrance.

It's quite a narrow lane and no room for parking on both sides or even parking big cars as it stops the traffic altogether. Mostly it's been dealt with by us all parking in the road for a while so there is nowhere for them to park and by regular patrols by community police who ticket those causing an obstruction.

A few weeks ago the main road (where the main entrance is) was resurfaced and double yellow lines and more zig zags have appeared along the road. This limits parking very much and so the lazy ones now try to park in our lane.

I say the lazy ones because they have permission to park in the church car park - 200 yards away or the pub car park 200 yards away. There is also a lay by at the bottom of the lane.

This morning I was walking up the lane when a car turned into a near neighbour's drive. I knew my neighbour was away so as the woman got out (and her child got out) I asked if she was there to see Mrs E. She said she wasn't but there was nowhere else to park and her daughter needed to get to school. Then she tried to walk round me.

I said she couldn't park there and she needed to move. She had a major hissy fit, drawing quite a bit of attention and embarrassing her DD. Another neighbour came out and took a photo of her car and said it would be reported.

So she got back in and reversed out crossly, nearly hitting other cars trying to go down the lane. Unbelievable.

Glad you challenged her, hopefully she won't try it again

Walnutwhipster · 08/11/2019 11:05

Diagram, it's the law.

Campurp · 08/11/2019 11:08

That’s incredibly rude of her! I don’t even like using someone’s driveway to turn, let alone parking there!

WaningGibbous · 08/11/2019 11:32

Could have been worse www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/woman-attacked-school-run-family-3513378

DriftingLeaves · 08/11/2019 11:37

Apologies @Walnutwhipster

Here it is, such as it is.

I don't actually have short curly hair but I'm trying to remain anonymous.

Well it was very rude of her but personally I wouldn't have got involved. It wasn't your driveway and you knew she wasn't actually inconveniencing anyone.

DriftingLeaves · 08/11/2019 11:45

I got involved because the neighbour is a close friend who was away and this person was, I thought, going to knock on her door.

😂

That is a wonderful diagram, OP, loving the tree in your neighbours house Smile

Can't believe she thought it ok to park in a private drive when there is suitable parking 200 yards away, unbelievable.

Even so OP please don't get your hammer out Grin

GaraMedouar · 08/11/2019 11:49

What a lovely pic though Smile - very cheeky of the lady - hopefully she won’t do it again

Could you ask your Nice Neighbour what brand of tree that is? It's EXACTLY what I want for my back garden.

HappenstanceMarmite · 08/11/2019 11:55

“Not to scale” 😂

TheSecretJeven · 08/11/2019 11:56

Perhaps your neighbour needs to install a penguin bollard.

Ha - that doesn't fool me - I'd know you anywhere Grin

saj90 · 08/11/2019 11:58

Excellent diagram. Particularly enjoyed that you've stated 'Not to Scale' Grin
Well done you for saying something.

mydoglikesbeef · 08/11/2019 11:59

It's a very nice street! Looks idyllic

mydoglikesbeef · 08/11/2019 11:59

Obviously when nasty lady isn't there

DriftingLeaves · 08/11/2019 11:59

@Seeline Please don't tell anyone.

The tree is a rhus @ChaosTrulyReigns

It may not look exactly like that.

Did you really both have your fires lit at 8.30 in the morning in November? Grin

haverhill · 08/11/2019 12:05

That is true CFery, but I can top it.
My neighbour recently parked on another neighbour's drive WHILE THEY WERE THERE. He was trying to "make a point", apparently.
The police turned up. An arrest was made. And I watched the whole thing in utter glee through a chink in the curtains kept a dignified distance.

FetchezLaVache · 08/11/2019 12:06

@DriftingLeaves you are too modest! That is the prettiest parking diagram I've ever seen.

FetchezLaVache · 08/11/2019 12:07
