How big were your babies?

BigBabyMaker · 06/11/2019 16:16

First baby weighed a nice 11lb 2oz.

I’ve heard they get bigger each time, and I’m honestly dreading the idea of a bigger baby. I was massive at the end and it was uncomfortable all round.

How much did your baby’s weigh? And did they get bigger?

DC1 is only 5 months and looking to start TTC when she is around 11months old.

11lbs and 1/2 oz (that 1/2 made all the difference). He was a long baby rather than a wide one but he still took a bit of pushing out Smile He is an only child...

Allthebubbles · 06/11/2019 20:30

8lb 14- 12 days late emergency section
9lb10- due date elective section

BigBabyMaker · 06/11/2019 20:32

DD: 8lbs 8oz at 41+5 (EMCS)
DS: 8lbs 1oz at 39+5 (ELCS)

I reckon had DS not been evicted though, he probably would have gone to a similar gestation as DD and probably been around 9lbs.

Not in the same league as your 11lb-er but DD's size was also thought to be a factor for my struggle in labour and subsequent EMCS (I'm 5'4 and only around 8 stone when not pregnant!).

Both me and my sister was 6lbs babies (as were two out of three of hers) so am guessing my DH is to blame as a 10lb-er..

Bedsheets4knickers · 06/11/2019 21:02

7.8
8.10

commanderdalgliesh · 06/11/2019 21:08

My friend has an 11 pounder (vaginally!) and then an eight pounder. Don't worry. I had an eight 11 followed by a 7 7.

Impatientwino · 06/11/2019 21:10

DS1 - 9lb 10.5oz - 39 weeks
DS2 - 9lb 4oz - 39 weeks
DS3 - 7lb 6oz - 37 weeks

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 06/11/2019 21:10

I think Dd1 took until 8 months to get to 11lbs yet photos of her show these great chubby legs and arms. She was always 2 sizes behind her actual age. People used to ask what they were doing about her weight. Nothing. She was healthy, breastfed, cruising along on the 0.4th percentile quite happily and meeting her developmental milestones. They are all different. All 3 were born before their due date by at least 8 days. Ds was 2.5 weeks early and a planned home birth as was dd1. Dd2 decided to have me blue lighted from a home birth to a CS as she was an undiagnosed breech. I'm still pissed off that they missed she was breech.

7lbs exactly - DS1. 37 weeks.
7lb 7ozs - DS2. 40+1.
6lbs 14ozs - DD. 38 weeks.

BalloonSlayer · 06/11/2019 21:25

My very old fashioned pregnancy book asserts that a woman will have her heaviest baby around the age of 35, which (it says) is where the belief that babies get heavier as you go on comes from, because people used to have babies younger and would therefore be done and dusted by 35.

The 35 thing worked for me. I had:

1st DC (aged 35) - 9lb 9oz
2nd DC (aged 37) - 6lb 13oz
3rd DC (aged 43) - 6lb 13oz

Sevo7 · 06/11/2019 21:29

I should add Ds (9lb 10oz) ended up as an emcs as he was positioned completely wrong and had a massive head (90th centile) with dd (7lb 10oz) I had growth scans all through the pregnancy and she was also predicated a weight of around 10lbs. I tried for a vbac but when it wasn’t progressing I thought sod it I don’t fancy trying to birth a 10lb baby and happily went along with another c-section when suggested.

When they showed me her over the screen, she was tiny like a little doll and the first words I uttered at seeing my brand new baby was “pffft I could have easily birthed THAT head!” Blush

Froggledoggleoggle · 06/11/2019 21:30

5lb 10oz he arrived at 36+6

bobisbored · 06/11/2019 21:32

DS 8lb 11oz 40+2
DD 9lb 12oz 41+5

Blippolbblopp · 06/11/2019 21:33

Wow i cant believe people have had 10lb/11lb babies. Shock

Mine were

DS - 24 weeks - 1lb 5oz
DD - 40.2 weeks - 7lb 1oz
DS - 37 weeks - 4lb 13oz

What was funny about mine was although DD was my heaviest she was my daintiest. At 10 months she was 17lb where as DS2 was 17lb at 5 months

raspberryk · 06/11/2019 21:34

1st 10lb3 - 42 weeks
2nd 7lb13 I think - 39 weeks

BillyJoel · 06/11/2019 21:35
