Hard hat donned. Shoulders broadened. Ready for MN honest opinion.
I've seen enough Facebook tat threads, I do not want my stuff featured on them.
I've been learning dot art and wondered if my bits are good enough to sell. I'm being really brave and posting here to get a feel for if they are shite or not.
Be honest, I can take it (I have wine in the fridge)

The trees are very nice.

The ceramics look too amateur.

LittleSweet · 03/11/2019 18:46

I especially like the Christmas trees.

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 18:47

Oh wow thank you so much for all the comments, I really appreciate your honest replies. Will take all advice on board.
I could customize them quite easily in terms of colour, size of design etc.
It's just a hobby and would only be looking to make some pocket money, just need to figure out how much to chargeHmm

Oh the dishes are painted with a porcelain paint which you cure in the oven, they are then dishwasher proof (I've tested them!)

People would buy the trees at a craft sale, but I doubt you'd cover your costs let alone any payment for your time.

I'd buy them, but in reality when it comes to selling, most people would smile and keep walking unless they were crazy cheap.

Spied · 03/11/2019 18:53

Love the bowls. They are something a bit different. I'd buy.
I don't like the trees. See that type of thing everywhere.

themental · 03/11/2019 18:54

@SpiderCharlotte

Calm down it's just an opinion. I don't personally like loads of "stuff" in my house... I think the world is too full of it.

I also think it's a bit of a disservice to Op to say otherwise. She asked for honesty. I can honestly say I like it, there's nothing remotely wrong with it, but realistically I would not buy it and I'd also bet money that most people on this thread wouldn't either.

To me "tat" is just junk with very little purpose or use, I think all christmas plates fall into this category, and if nice christmas plates are your thing then the cheap shops have loads of pretty ones, just as nice as ops. So it's worth thinking about her price point, that's all.

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 18:58

@themental its fine, I did ask for honest opinionsSmile Appreciate all comments, good bad or otherwise, we all have different tastes.
Enough have been positive to encourage me to give it a go.
The trees were actually really cheap, I wouldn't charge much for them. I have all the paints so costs are quite low really. My time is another matter but I like doing them. As I said it would only be for pocket money.
I'm going to try and do the initials without making the outline too defined, will post the result when done.

Its more of a little dish than a plate thoughWinkSmile

If you set up an Etsy shop stick the link on this thread.

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 19:42

@Cherry321 that is way too scary! Etsy is for proper artists!! But thank you!

Those who suggested a less defined outline on the initial, is this any better? I'll be honest, the lack if straight line is bothering meGrin

Would you buy these???

of, not if

I love individual tree decorations, and yes, my tree doesn’t look like ones you see in pictures where everything matches, and there’s a theme, but I find them soulless.

I’d definitely buy one of your trees at a craft fair. The other things look nice but I don’t buy things like that.

VaguelySkeletal · 03/11/2019 19:48

Definitely nicer.

The spots have a gentle vibe, and the strongly defined outline is too harsh.

NationMcKinley · 03/11/2019 19:51

Oooooo! I love these! You’re so clever. I’d absolutely buy them, especially the B bowl and the trees. They’re gorgeous. Please set your shop up ASAP! Thank you Grin

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 19:58

@VaguelySkeletal thank you, you really helped with that advice, I will do more in that style (and control my urge for straight linesGrin)
Thanks again for all the comments.
Can I ask for pricing advice?
I was thinking £1 for the bigger trees, 50p the little ones, maybe do 6 large for £5 and 6 small for £2.50?
And £3 for a dish?
Too cheap/expensive?
Would you be willing to pay P&P on top of that, or should I make them a bit more expensive and free P&P?
Can you tell I'm a complete novice at selling stuff🤣

OP posts:
NationMcKinley · 03/11/2019 20:02

Hmmmmmm. I think that’s quite cheap tbh. Would you even cover the materials and time? I always prefer to have p&p included as well

MrsGrindah · 03/11/2019 20:03

What are the trees for? Are they tree decorations? TBH I wouldn’t put a tree on a tree and the colours are not Xmassy enough for me. Sorry

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 20:04

Materials would be easily covered, time not so much.

OP posts:
VenusClapTrap · 03/11/2019 20:14

I like the trees. But not the bowls/plates.

plunkplunkfizz · 03/11/2019 20:22

You’re pricing a bit low perhaps. You say you already have the paints but once they’re done, you’ll have to buy more. The initial bowls are lovely (and that’s coming from a massive hater of ‘tat’).

NationMcKinley · 03/11/2019 20:29

I’d totally put the trees on trees! They’d also make lovely presents.

HeatedDryer · 03/11/2019 20:29

Ok, I will price a bit higher, thank you.
@plunkplunkfizz thank you, that means a lot coming from a tat hater! Smile Please can I ask if you prefer the initials with the solid outline, or the B with the less structured outline? I have some mini easels with little canvases on and am thinking of doing initials on those too. Thank you.

OP posts:
Impatientwino · 03/11/2019 20:30

Love the B dish you just posted - I agree the outline is softer and more appealing.

I'd pay £6-£7 for it I imagine without raising a brow and maybe if I was a fair/fete a little more of the colours really appealed to me.

The trees I'd pay £2.99 at a fair I guess, they're nice and a bit different Smile

NationMcKinley · 03/11/2019 20:31

I like the B exactly the way you’ve done it in the bowl you posted
