It's been miserable here all weekend so I've decided its time for some comfort food
My resolve to eat more positively to combat the winter blues is on hold
So I'm making toad in the hole with onion gravy, mashed swede, cauli, broccoli and carrots
Followed by syrup sponge and custard
And a nice red 🍷 I've been saving
Hopefully will combat the back to work blues Haloween Sad

I have definitely tipped over from red to white drinking
There's something warming about a nice red at this time of year

WinterRose92 · 03/11/2019 11:59

Oh god, OP, that sounds so good! Enjoy!
We’re going to have roast chicken with potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, broccoli. cabbage, peas, stuffing and I’ve bought some pigs in blankets which may or may not end up on the plate. (They will.)

beckyvardy · 03/11/2019 12:00

Building wardrobes and re doing the spare room today.

We will have no time to cook so we are having Iceland take away microwave curries and garlic bread.

They are my actual favourite even better than the posh a la carte Indian by us.

quirkychick · 03/11/2019 12:06

Roast lamb, slow cooking in the oven with garlic, rosemary, chicken bone broth/stock and red wine. Will have with potatoes, veg and make the juices into gravy. Dd2 appears to have the lurgy so I hope the garlic, wine and chicken broth will help fend it off for the rest of us. I'm sure warming, nourishing food is just what you need in the autumn and winter, OP.

Blowandgo · 03/11/2019 12:09

Slow cooked beef joint in balsamic gravy, roast chicken, stuffing, roast spuds, all the steamed veg, yorkshire puds and gravy followed by black forest gateaux. Im cooking for an anniversary dinner for 7 people :)

I was going to do toad in the hole too, but decided to make sausage casserole instead, with jacket spuds, broccoli & kale.

quirkychick · 03/11/2019 12:16

Potnoodledoo our whole house smells of lamb and garlic 😁.

Drinkciderfromalemon · 03/11/2019 12:16

Veg curry, dhal, rice and poppadoms.

Batshitcrazy82 · 03/11/2019 12:21

Slow cooked gammon in cook, roast potatoes, stuffing, pigs in blankets and whatever veg everyone wants, can't wait!

BloodyCats · 03/11/2019 12:21

Goats cheese and beetroot salad for lunch.

I’ve just made a big pan of leek and potato soup so will probably have that for dinner, or I might make a Sunday dinner if I can be arsed.
There’s something so cosy and comforting about a big pan of vegetables cooking away though, not sure I can resist!

LifeInPlasticIsFantastic · 03/11/2019 12:24

Lamb shanks, sweet potato mash, carrots and roast potatoes.

DH has asked for pigs in blankets with his ‘because it’s the season’. And yes he did get the Hmm look!

Bunnylady53 · 03/11/2019 12:26

Sirloin steak, homemade wedges & fine beans

CointreauVersial · 03/11/2019 12:28

Lots of yummy-sounding roasts being cooked today!

I will be doing a chicken curry of some sort, as I have some chicken that needs using up. Not sure which type yet; depends what takes my fancy.

iklboo · 03/11/2019 12:28

I've roasted a chicken. Just deciding whether to do a full dinner, just mash & veg or chuck some chips in the air fryer as we've got a lot of running about to do later when DH comes in.
