It's been miserable here all weekend so I've decided its time for some comfort food
My resolve to eat more positively to combat the winter blues is on hold
So I'm making toad in the hole with onion gravy, mashed swede, cauli, broccoli and carrots
Followed by syrup sponge and custard
And a nice red 🍷 I've been saving
Hopefully will combat the back to work blues Haloween Sad

Slow Cooker Spanish Stew thingy - Chicken, Chorizo, stuffed pimento olives, rainbow peppers, white wine, onions and sprinkle of herbs. Been cooking for Hours and my House smells divine 😋

We ended up having hot chicken, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwiches. Really tasty.

MysweetAudrina · 03/11/2019 18:45

Roast chicken with stuffing, gammon, roasties, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and gravy with a choice of raspberry bakewell or rocky road for dessert.

MoiraRose · 03/11/2019 18:51

@Kraggle I boil my potatoes first then mix the filling together once they're cooked 🙂

Bickles · 03/11/2019 18:53

Chicken and leek pie with carrot and swede mash.

Hm. We had our main meal at lunchtime, veg curry and dal left over from yesterday, so were just planning on scrambled eggs for supper. Now I have Roast Envy.

My dh made pie, steak and mushroom for them, quorn and mushroom for me. Mash, carrots, tender stem broccoli and green beans. There us a mixed berry crumble in the oven for later.

Perfect end to a lovely weekend

We had a rather unsuccessful foray into lentil pasta...

TheMasterBaker · 03/11/2019 19:05

Roast chicken, potatoes, yorkies and veg with homemade gravy! The cold, wet weather means lots of comfort food in this house.

Muckycat · 03/11/2019 19:11

Ooh some lovely meals on here! Split pea and kale soup. I randomly felt resolved to start losing weight today so am going with it!

Kraggle · 03/11/2019 20:37

@MoiraRose thank you, will do that next time as they were still slightly hard even after nearly double cooking time and adding extra water to the mix. I chopped them smaller than the recipe stated as well which annoyed me. It was too late to take them out of the sauce and boil them by the time I realised. Other than that the pie was yummy so alls good!

MoiraRose · 03/11/2019 22:00

@Kraggle glad it turned out nice after all that, you can't beat a home made corned beef pie
