What's for dinner?

I'm in a complete cooking funk. There's only so much you can do with a bit of mince and pack of chicken!

Doing the big food shop tomorrow so would love some meal ideas.

Tonight we're having take away so;

  • Chicken Kebab with lots of salad
  • Chips and Gravy
  • Garlic pizza bread
  • Onion rings
And DD is having sausage and chips.

What are you having for dinner?

Mustard and brown sugar toast silverside, champ and honey roast parsnip&carrots. And gravy of course!

Jacket potato with roasted veggies and a creamy cashew nut sauce, with a big pile of salad and coleslaw on the side.

And our meal plan for the next few days is:
Sunday: chips and curry sauce, maybe sausages too if I can be bothered.
Monday: shepherd's pie
Tuesday: chickpea dal with homemade garlic naan breads.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/10/2019 18:05

Shameless place marking.dp is threatening shepherd's pie

CrouchedLioness · 26/10/2019 18:06

My oven broke this morning so our chicken roast is out the window! Can you grill potato smileys? I’m at a loss😂 My stomach envious of everyone else’s dinners they sound delicious

FurryDogMother · 26/10/2019 18:06

Just me here tonight, so am being self indulgent and having a duck breast with cherry sauce, roast potatoes and parsnips, garlicky courgettes and broccoli. If I have room, there's a pot of chocolate custard in the fridge for afters :)

Mrsjayy · 26/10/2019 18:07

Take away probably Chinese but a chicken kebab sounds lovely.

PristineCondition · 26/10/2019 18:08

Kids- tomato soup with cheese sandwich for dipping
Dp- left over noodles
Me- marmite and crisp sandwich

BlobbyTheLump · 26/10/2019 18:09

Such lovely food ideas here.

I'm stuck in such a rut I tend to cycle out;

  • Spaghetti Bolognese
  • Chilli Con Carne
  • Pasta with tomato sauce
  • Fajitas/Tacos
  • Chicken Curry
  • Roast
  • Braised Steak/Chicken Casserole

So boring and monotonous. I now hate cooking and thinking of what to make for dinner, it's become such a chore, which is a shame because I loved cooking!

I also have fussy DD to cater for and getting her to eat is a battle.
Mealtimes piss me off at the minute!

Homemade chinese chicken curry, with onions, broccoli & mushrooms in there. Yum!

delilahbucket · 26/10/2019 18:19

Chinese belly pork (homemade and takes over an hour so a weekend dish for us) rice, spring onions and stir-fry vegetables. The pork sauce is made with ginger, garlic, rice wine, dark soy, light soy, light brown sugar, bay leaf, cinnamon and balsamic. I don't have the quantities, I just brown the pork and chuck everything in and leave with a lid on to simmer for an hour.

EileenAlanna · 26/10/2019 18:21

I had a great big lovely pork chop, chips & beans. I got 6 chops reduced in Sainsbury's to 79p per pack of 2. 1 down 5 more still to look forward to.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 26/10/2019 18:25

Camembert to start, then mussels. Lots of bread but it's cold and I'm alright with that today! It's cooking now, I can't wait.

Yeahnahyeah1 · 26/10/2019 18:25

Sausage and mash, mash made with wholegrain mustard, cheese, milk, butter.... 🐷
