What's for dinner?

I'm in a complete cooking funk. There's only so much you can do with a bit of mince and pack of chicken!

Doing the big food shop tomorrow so would love some meal ideas.

Tonight we're having take away so;

  • Chicken Kebab with lots of salad
  • Chips and Gravy
  • Garlic pizza bread
  • Onion rings
And DD is having sausage and chips.

What are you having for dinner?

It sounds a bit Confused but it's currently cooking in the oven - Jamie Oliver's Cauliflower cheese pizza .
It's a bit of a faff with making pizza dough, white sauce, cooking cauli etc , but looks lush !

GuessWhoColeen · 26/10/2019 18:35

We just had,

Morrisons fake mince with added fresh mushrooms, Morrisons bolognese sauce over it, with Gosh sweetcorn, harissa & quinoa falafels, from Morrisons, plus loads of Parmasan grated on top.

Plus raw onion, cherry tomatoes & Tesco organic baby spinach & rocket leaves with loads of black pepper on top & fresh basil from a pot plant that has lasted months.

Plus Tesco value garlic bread.

It was bloody lovely.

Probably way too much sugar, fat & salt in the bread, pasta & cheese but I washed it down with full fat lemonade Grin

I love Morrisons as its so cheap and most of the stuff I have tried is really tasty. Tesco is a bit of a rip off.

The best dinner in the world: raclette!
You can’t go wrong with melted cheese and potatoes Smile

Charley50 · 26/10/2019 18:43

We're having jerk chicken, rice n peas and homemade coleslaw. Yum.

Have you thought of adding a creamy broccoli pasta dish to your repertoire OP? Or creamy salmon or bacon. Easy and tasty.
Stir-fry?

BlobbyTheLump · 26/10/2019 18:55

@Charley50
Fish is a big no in this house but creamy bacon pasta sounds lovely.

Stir fry is an excellent idea too!

I know there are recipes out there, I just hate looking for them Grin
Especially when I know that I could spend hours making something and DD will just turn her nose up at it.

The majority of the time I'm just cooking for DD and myself so that's another factor that puts me off too.

Eurgh, who knew dinner could be so difficult?

@PetitsGateaux Two of my most favourite things! I'll have to look that up.

@Mrsjayy Shepherds Pie is another of mine. That's one thing I can guarantee DD will eat! It's fun to have some variety... Grin

@VictoriaBun That sounds amazing. Going to look that one up too.

Cottage pie.

Tomorrow we are having www.nigella.com/recipes/red-prawn-and-mango-curry

I have batch cooked chicken curries for mid week quick meals when we are bored of pesto pasta or scrambled eggs on toast as emergency quick food.

BlobbyTheLump · 26/10/2019 19:01

@GuessWhoColeen That sounds right up my street.
Anything with a huge salad is 👍🏼

You're all so creative with food. Where do you get your ideas from? Or do you just make it up as you go along?

TowelNumber42 · 26/10/2019 19:07

Don't over think it. Steal favourite meal ideas from all your friends and acquaintances and colleagues and your children's friends. I ask everyone what the favourite dinners are in their house. People are always happy to say.

BentNeckLady · 26/10/2019 19:09

House to myself so I’ve just eaten 2 pieces of cheese on toast and have got a packed of liquorice all sorts for my pudding 😂

danadas · 26/10/2019 19:09

I've got a Sausage casserole doing it's thing in the kitchen. It smells amazing.

SecretNutellaFix · 26/10/2019 19:10

We had chicken stir fry and I cheated and we had a pack of micro rice shared between the two of us. Plus veg spring rolls and prawn crackers.

I'll probably raid the strawberries in a bit and have an Eton mess of sorts. DH can have an ice cream cone.

KronksSpinachPuffs · 26/10/2019 19:14

I'm having leftover dominos tonight Grin

onlyhereforthefood · 26/10/2019 19:15

Pork and apple sausages, mash, onion gravy and cabbage.

LeftoverPizza · 26/10/2019 19:16

Beans, cheese and sausage on toast tonight😂

Crystal87 · 26/10/2019 19:20

We had a roast dinner with pork. Tomorrow I'll probably do a chicken curry or spag bol.

GuessWhoColeen · 26/10/2019 19:23

Btw the lemonade was 17p for 2 litres. I try to shop on a budget, I have just spent £13 on Jamie Olivers new book though Halloween Hmm

Crunchymum · 26/10/2019 19:24

That is a very varied take away @BlobbyTheLump

I've just ordered a Mezze for one as DP is out (kids are earlier!)

I can't wait.

BlobbyTheLump · 26/10/2019 19:25

@Crunchymum I'm craving variety Grin

Crunchymum · 26/10/2019 19:25

Whoops this is the mezze

What's for dinner?
Ribeebie · 26/10/2019 19:34

We're having sea bream with pasta and roasted veg. So probably not much help if you don't have fish!

I try and add or swap a new meal every few weeks. Currently our favourite is hairy bikers Spicy rice which uses pork tenderloin. Also love a curry when the weather is colder, with chapatti or rice.

cornstarch · 26/10/2019 19:35

Leftover trifle and some crisps

Madreb · 26/10/2019 19:43

King prawn and tomato linguine. - quick and v tasty
Lemon and garlic Chicken thigh tray bake with lots of greens and baby potatoes
Homemade burgers
Homemade salt n pepper chicken with egg fried rice

These are the meals I have in. All will be served with veg
