simple survey

A very simple survey.

  1. How many of your grandparents are still living?
  2. How many of your parents are still living?
  3. (your age, if you wish)

There is something I am particularly interested in, but I won't say what it is as I don't want to skew the answers!

Thanks all!
It was nothing very deep...

I was wondering how unusual it is to have lost both your parents but to still have a grandparent alive (like me). I couldn't think of anyone else I know in that situation, other than my siblings (obviously!). But wondered if I was forgetting people or had a funny sample.

But it seems I was right. Lots of people on this thread have lost grandparents, often all of them. Only one other person has 0 parents alive but has some grandparents (3 in fact, but they don't seem sure so I guess not in touch with all of them).

None, they were all dead by the time I was 11, but my maternal great grandmother outlived them all, which puts my DM in the same unusual situation as you, having a living grandparent but no parents.
