Meet my foster kitty

This is my foster kitty. Her owners are moving and won’t take her with them or find suitable place that accepts animals.

They have also let her have three litters of kittens by the age of two and it looks like she is having a fourth.

So she has come to live with me, the three chips children and sidecat. She’s off to the vets on Monday to confirm if she is or not. If she is she will be spayed as soon as recommended after kittens. If not she will be spayed ASAP.

After initial grumps from SideCat at the very indecency of us bringing another cat into the house, SideGirlCat has cosied up on middle chips bed and gone to sleep having been lovingly tucked in

She is the spitting image of my cat, she was called poppy. They're probably the same size too. Although poppy was spayed at 5 months because she started calling. That was fun.
Good luck with the kittens

Oh my. Very like my boy cat from many years ago. (Except for the pregnant belly obviously. Grin)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/10/2019 21:01

Oh isn’t it mad to think there’s actual little kittens in there.
When she has them you’ll think How the bloody hell did they all fit it there.

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/10/2019 21:10

This is lovely and sad at the same time. My neighbour has had two sets of kittens this year, I feel sorry for the Mum cat.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/10/2019 21:14

Could the vets do a neutering amnesty of sorts? £20 or something?.

sideorderofchips · 31/10/2019 21:14

I’m already wondering how they fit in there!!

Beamur · 31/10/2019 21:30

I bet she will be a tiny scrap of a thing once the kittens are born.
She must be so much happier being looked after and feeling safe.

Wolfiefan · 31/10/2019 21:35

@Fluffycloudland77 Sen have lots of local schemes sponsored by charities where owners can get their pets neutered. Many don’t bother. Some people truly see breeding as a way to make a cheap buck.
My first cat had kittens well before she was a year. Poor bloody baby. She ended up in rescue with her son.
I won’t let mine out unless neutered and chipped.

sideorderofchips · 31/10/2019 21:56

See I’m very much the same. Fosterkitty will be neutered as soon as possible. She’s being pampered here that’s for sure. And her babies will be found homes with responsible owners

@Fluffycloudland77 over here th e cat action trust run a scheme to get your pet neutered for a lower rate

Unfortunatly each time the owners took her she was pregnant again 🙄

Bless her , she looks very relaxed and hopefully she'll settle well before the kittens arrive to take over . Get some energy stored ( that's what my cats call their winter fat)

It is so enraging how animals are abused through neglect . Female cats can breed so early and it seems productively . It cannot do their long term health or lifespan any favours . There's no need for it .

Hope the kittening goes smoothly , it isn't her first rodeo. SdeCat will be onside with hot water ,soap and a towel please in his very best James Herriot mode .

sideorderofchips · 31/10/2019 22:13

@70isaLimitNotaTarget far more likely that side cat will once again be hiding in the yarn box away from the pregnant hormonal mother cat!

Wolfiefan · 31/10/2019 22:19

Please don’t think I was having a pop at you @sideorderofchips. I really truly wasn’t. I think you’re doing a wonderful thing.
Really considering the logistics of transforming a child’s room to a foster kitty hangout. Just need the buggers to leave home first. Grin

cricketmum84 · 31/10/2019 22:20

Place marking for kitten pics.

She is absolutely beautiful 😍

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/10/2019 22:34

Wolfie our cats just moved into my DC room , they aren't bothered that my DC still live there .
Grin

DS goes to bed , our female is sprawled across his duvet an he cannot bring himself to move her ! (Talk about under the thumb)

sideorderofchips · 31/10/2019 22:36

@Wolfiefan not at all!! My very vocal about my belief of responsible pet ownership and that includes neutering and microchipping and depending where you live as to whether indoor is safer. SideCat is an indoor cat as we live next to a busy road and Fosterkitty will be as well whilst she is here

Is it bad that I really do want to keep her. My middlechips is undergoing tests as they believe she is adhd and you wouldn’t believe how calming Fosterkitty is for her

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 31/10/2019 22:43

Well then she’s officially a therapy cat and has to stay! Grin
Mine are allowed out but only during daylight hours and we aren’t by a busy road.

sideorderofchips · 31/10/2019 22:50

SideCat got out once in his seven years and he got clipped by a car so now only has one canine tooth. He is a bit dopey bless him.

As an aside about fostering - my friend who I have mentioned before has hand reared many dogs and cats and has fostered in particular two dogs who were puppy farm dogs - one of whom had never really had any contact with humans before she was rescued and was so terrified of human contact that she either hid or went rigid when she had to come into contact with them. A year and hundreds of patient hours later and she is the loveliest little dog who absolutely adores her owner ( my friend couldn't bear to let her go!) and who is an integral part of the family 'pack.' It really is wonderful to see how she has blossomed just by being exposed to unconditional love and I don't doubt at all that children who are non verbal or struggling in other ways benefit hugely from interaction with pets.

I'm so proud of the individuals who give up their time and a huge part of their soul to care for animals in this way. Rescue and foster pets often need a different level of understanding as they can frequently come with additional needs and demands on our patience.
Good on you Chips! Godspeed FosterKitty and all the kitty cats who sail in her... Grin

sideorderofchips · 01/11/2019 20:50

Fosterkitty is really starting to trust us a bit more now. We get lots of purring and she does she little purry meows.

She’s still holding onto those babies but she’s coming downstairs a bit more now. Still some
Hissing but not as much

Gingaaarghpussy · 01/11/2019 20:55

If she's anything like my mums cat, she'll find a random bag in a wardrobe and have her kittens in there, cuz it's safe and cozy. Grin

sideorderofchips · 01/11/2019 21:26

I’m hoping she picks a box at least 😂
