Crumpets.

How do you eat yours? I normally like them well done, with loads of real butter. Today though, I buttered, marmite, mature chedder then back under the grill and they were bloody amazing. I've not had crumpets in years, but I can see a new food habit forming.

Any other tasty toppings I haven't thought of?

Chocolate or jam

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2019 17:39

Usually just butter, real butter of course. Occasionally cheese on top of the butter, but never anything sweet.

Knittedfairies · 20/10/2019 17:40

I need crumpets. Now.

Hesafriendfromwork · 20/10/2019 17:40

Butter
Butter and jam
Butter with cheddar then either onion chutney or apple sauce on and back under the grill.
Cheese and bacon

Unshriven · 20/10/2019 17:41

Honey or a nut butter.

Or mushed up tinned sardines with sliced tomato.

Stravapalava · 20/10/2019 17:41

Just butter. Real butter. So much so that it drips through the holes and leaves buttery puddles on the plate.

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/10/2019 17:46

Buttery puddles are a must. I'm not sure about anything sweet. The children would probably like jam.

I think I could manage nut butter. Might try it later, I've 4 left.

Peanut butter, golden syrup or biscoff spread!

NotYourHolidayDick · 20/10/2019 17:48

Butter and scrambled eggs and pepper.

Ds and DH have jam.

Gotthetshirt23 · 20/10/2019 17:48

Confused food of the devil !
Never ever.

Bipbopbee · 20/10/2019 17:53

Peanut butter or honey. Also Bovril with or without melted cheese Grin

Mackerel pate is also delish

iklboo · 20/10/2019 17:58

Butter
Butter & jam
Butter & chilli cheese
Seriously spreadable cheese

DS likes butter & honey. Cat2 likes licking the 'sticky butter' off the plate when he's finished.

OccasionalNachos · 20/10/2019 17:58

Oh gawd I haven’t bought crumpets for ages. Cheese & marmite or a nut butter sounds AMAZING.

Sainsbury’s own brand are the best, weirdly. Better than Warburtons.

Branleuse · 20/10/2019 18:01

butter, peanut butter and sriracha sauce. Amazing

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/10/2019 18:01

They are Sainsbury's own!

Really crispy, butter and bovril.

Or regular crispy, cheese, back under the grill.

I like a savoury crumpet.

GaraMedouar · 20/10/2019 18:03

I love crumpets! Just butter usually, but sometimes i add a scrape of Marmite, or a tsp of jam if I wasn't something sweet.

louderthan1 · 20/10/2019 18:04

Crunchy peanut butter

FiveTwoFaster · 20/10/2019 18:04

Chicken liver pate! Pushed right between the holes.

AliceLittle · 20/10/2019 18:09

Jam and cheese

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/10/2019 18:11

Very crispy, real butter and either marmite, or blue cheese.

Glenthebattleostrich · 20/10/2019 18:12

I'm a week into low carb boot camp and would happily swap DH for a hot crumpet smothered in butter right now

icecreamsundae32 · 20/10/2019 18:15

My kids like them with honey, jam or chocolate spread! I've gone off them but used to just like them with butter no other topping!
