House plants?

How many have you got?

I mentioned my house plants at work yesterday, as I was discussing how I was going to transport them when I move soon and my colleagues were surprised at how many I had. I thought I'd take them to work over the course of a week and then move them back when I'm in my new place.

My mum has just been round and coincidentally she said I was the only person she knows now, who has them?

Really? I didn't think house plants were that odd or out of fashion. I've got about a dozen across the house, I think.

ErrolTheDragon, please could you share the citrus pip tip?

I doubt I could find the same YouTube again but I described it upthread - essentially it's just to carefully peel off the woody outer layer. Start by making a tiny nick in it with a paring knife, then I just used my fingernails.

just one! a weeping fig, survived all my student and post-student neglect Blush

21, but I keep getting a bit twitchy about them taking over; I've got a few that have grown too big for the windowsills and I feel they are cluttering the place up a bit sometimes. I can't bring myself to part with them though!

None as they all die on me.

Oh heck, I've just realised I've got a couple of scented geraniums I rooted earlier in the year outside which will need to come in soon. They're from a plant which I bought originally the year before I had DD (who is now 20).

And today I've started some indoor hyacinths and narcissus grandiflora.

I have a cheese plant that's 44 years old, it's survived many a house move, a spider plant with babies, a weeping fig and a begonia that's about 20 years old and was a cutting from my grandmothers plant. I used to be crap at looking after house plants but I've obviously improved

I’m so disappointed that two of same plant are dying. They were not cheap and I don’t know why. Sad

On the up side we’ve propagated some monsteras.

I have five on one of my kitchen windowsills.
Been searching for a nice big one for the living room!

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 19/10/2019 19:40

I have a few. I wouldn't recommend a lemon unless mine was a case of brown fingers. They are fussy about summer feed, winter feed, water, temperature and god knows what else.

VenusClapTrap · 19/10/2019 20:08

Fifty odd.

I picked some chilli’s this afternoon. Saw there was a hole in one, a little face popped out as if to say “what do you want?”
The plants been munched to bits by a caterpillar. So now I need to take it outside before all my plants end up with it.
