What do you still buy that you're convinced no one else still does?

Title may have been a slight exaggeration, but is there anything you continue to purchase ( be it groceries, cleaning products, home bits etc) that is maybe seen as outdated, useless, old fashioned or just generally unliked by the masses , that you continue to buy?

Mine is Fisherman's Friend. I love them but have never found anyone else who still buys them!

Ooh I used to love boil in the bag cod in butter sauce, I had it with boiled white rice
I haven't thought about it for about 30 years Grin

CandiceSucksCandy · 16/10/2019 14:15

Fry's Turkish delight
Those strips you stick on your nose and it pulls out your blackheads

Skinandbones · 16/10/2019 14:25

Pears soap, the smell just takes me back to being a child and using my hands to blow bubbles.
Harvey's Bristol cream, my ds best friend always get my a bottle.

Badabingbadabum · 16/10/2019 15:07

Would Milton tablets get rid of the old coffee smell that can linger in reusable coffee cups?

I love Biotex as someone upthread mentioned. I've used bar soap for years and find it so much easier to find now. 'Posh ones' cost at least double the amount of regular shower gel but last for months.

Until I joined mumsnet I thought I was old fashioned for using Zoflora!

Frith2013 · 16/10/2019 15:22

Grate black lead

Getskinnyordietrying · 16/10/2019 17:30

I buy the brightly coloured blancmange powder along with gold top milk and suet to make old fashioned stew and dumplings.... I’m only 32 Blush

Getskinnyordietrying · 16/10/2019 17:31

Getskinnyordietrying · 16/10/2019 17:32

Boil in the bag kippers .... my list is endless... thanks to this thread I’m begging to think I’m living in the past

Teacher22 · 16/10/2019 17:34

DH buys Fisherman's Friends and uses hankies. We will both eat black pudding which appals the DD. I have a tin of Birds' Custard in the cupboard.

Stickyuptail · 16/10/2019 17:35

Milton tablets for cleaning stained mugs and teaspoons.
Victory V tablets
Murray mints
Pepto Bismol (pink stuff as it was called growing up) for indigestion and upset stomach.
Hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda for cleaning white trainers
Cif liquid for cleaning bath and sink
My DB lives overseas and orders Heinz Piccalilli online because he loves it so much.

DB bought Heinz sandwich spread the other week but said it tasted different and not in a good way so don’t think he will be buying it again. It was his go to sandwich filling as a boy.
Tinned mushy peas
Orange thin cut marmalade for toast.

danni0509 · 16/10/2019 17:36

Shake n vac!

Don't know anyone in real life who uses it.

Earthling1994 · 16/10/2019 17:36

A paper calendar/diary. I've never used my phone one (shock horror as I'm 25)

Also bars of soap and pudding rice

Teacher22 · 16/10/2019 17:37

And I buy and make marmalade. Apparently young people don't eat it anymore. They like 'spreads' such as Nutella.

ZaZathecat · 16/10/2019 17:38

Scouring powder like Vim/Ajax

Wombleish · 16/10/2019 17:39

Pepto Bismol turns your poo black. Interesting fact of the day Grin

feelinghelplesstoday · 16/10/2019 17:46

Atora suet. Dumplings are very popular in their house through winter

Loveislandaddict · 16/10/2019 17:50

Bigga dried peas.
Makes the best mushy peas ever!

StarlightLady · 16/10/2019 18:05

I still buy (and wear) “proper” stockings, to wear with suspenders.

timshelthechoice · 16/10/2019 18:08

Dusting powder/body powder.

whitebowls · 16/10/2019 18:09

My grandma always had a small glass of Advocaat before bed. And made us snowballs with it at Christmas.
Dad used to give us Stone's Green Ginger Wine or a Babycham with a maraschino cherry on a stick.
I think I'll repeat this for our family this Christmas.
Happy memories.

Dahlietta · 16/10/2019 18:12

I’m also a hanky user (as is DH). They’re still quite common in men’s sections, but very difficult to find in women’s. Presumably ladies don’t snot, just as we don’t sweat.
I’m often surprised how difficult it is to buy proper porridge oats. The supermarkets sell them, but smaller shops usually just have a selection of those horrid little sachets.
