Just that.

She and Javed were the only home secretaries to even acknowledge the county lines problems. Her hardline stance related to crime that impacts people of colour is absolutely needed - even if she did and the tories did help cause the crises in the first place by reducing police numbers.

amymel2016 · 02/10/2019 12:06

She’s taking away our right to travel freely, live, work and retire in 30 countries. We’re definitely the winners out of this Hmm

CendrillonSings · 02/10/2019 12:07

Why? Because she doesn’t fit within the ideological straitjacket that leftwing identity politics demands? Her speech will have been one of the most successful of the conference in resonating across regional and class barriers by speaking to those who are directly affected by crime on a daily basis and are utterly sick of it...

Toitoitoi · 02/10/2019 12:08

@Soola totally agree the left are showing their true colours they are by far the most aggressive group of people around.

caringcarer · 02/10/2019 12:08

I like Priti Patel. I think she sounds sincere, and really when I consider the shadow Home Secretary Dianne Abbott, and her open door policy to immigration, there is no comparison of who is most competent as Home Secretary. What do you find vile about her OP? That she wants to support the police, or target drug dealers or make UK a safer place to live?

ThorosOfMyr · 02/10/2019 12:09

Well I heard her talking on Radio 4, a couple of years ago and she was so unpleasant - talked across the presenter and other guests and did the typical politician thing of completely not answering the question and pushing her own agenda (she's not on hew own with this one though) and she came across so badly that I cannot listen to her at all now.

SaireyDog · 02/10/2019 12:10

I agree with you op.

Usernamewillautodestrustin · 02/10/2019 12:11

Why does someone have to be labelled 'vile' because you don't agree with their politics or the way they handle themselves in public?

Caselgarcia · 02/10/2019 12:14

No I would not describe her as 'vile'. I don't particularly like/dislike her. Just want her to do a good job.

I don’t understand why she’s vile for tackling drug crime? Please can someone explain??

noblegiraffe · 02/10/2019 12:19

Says she’s in favour of the death penalty then lies about it.

Sacked for unauthorised trips to Israel.

Rabble-rousing populist speeches.

Just the sort of person you’d expect in Johnson’s cabinet, tbh.

Whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 02/10/2019 12:23

Exactly @noblegiraffe

She, and her politics, are vile. I'd call a man exactly the same (funnily enough her male peer are equally vile).

I care very little for the right advocating these morally defunct leeches governing us.

BunchMunch · 02/10/2019 12:24

I like her. Far better than the alternative under a Corbyn government.

Good on her for trying to do something about the county lines epidemic, which has caused so many problems. I don't see why anyone wouldn't support this tbh.

BarbariansMum · 02/10/2019 12:26

How do you end the free movement of people with no border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland? What am I missing here?

FlashingLights101 · 02/10/2019 12:26

So much for sisterhood eh?

Ugh, I hate this. So we mustn't criticise or have differing opinions on anyone now because we share the same genitals?

NotGoingToFall · 02/10/2019 12:27

Yes.

Whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 02/10/2019 12:27

@BunchMunch

Erm because I don't trust her a single bit. Previously sacked for dishonesty and illegal colluding with Israel? Oh yes. That's exactly the sort of person we should have in charge! Hmm

Littleheart5 · 02/10/2019 12:27

The expression “pulling up the ladder behind you” suits here

MmmBlowholes · 02/10/2019 12:28

She is bloody gorgeous but she's got an awful smugness about her.

EntropyRising · 02/10/2019 12:28

I really like her. Specifically why is she vile, apart from being a brexiteer?

QualCheckBot · 02/10/2019 12:30

I do find demonising politicians as if they are the anti-Christ a little bit overdone. Maybe criticise her policies but isn't name-calling a bit basic? But presumably doing the former would necessitate some intelligent effort.

Rachelover60 · 02/10/2019 12:30

I can't comment on Priti Patel generally but having read the text of what she said, I've no problem with it.

Rachelover60 · 02/10/2019 12:31

PerfectPeony2
Maybe it would be better to start a discussion on what she is saying rather than just call her vile?
........
Yes!

Trewser · 02/10/2019 12:31

Thanks MNHQ
