Just intrigued to know if people are as weird as me.. I have ocd so this is probably why. I have. Thing about socks, every time i go somewhere and I see socks I like I buy them. I have a carrier bag of new socks so if one pair gets a whole I replace it with a new pair.
Also have the same thing with shower gels. Every time I see a new shower gel my brain is like buy it buy it 😂 I currently have 15 and non of them are the same.
So what’s your thing 😊

Justmuddlingalong l wanted those plastic shoes too. The pink sparkly ones with the little heels. l was never allowed them. l'm still bitter about it.

katseyes7 · 02/10/2019 11:10

Superzowie You sound like my OH. He's a musician (and so it his youngest) and the amount of guitars and music gear is beyond belief. The last time l counted there were over 20 guitars. And that's before the youngest started working....

Fabric.

Felt.

Ribbon.

Buttons - oh so many buttons! I used to play in my DGM's Rover's biscuit tin full of buttons, I've been obsessed for 40 years! I made my wedding bouquet out of buttons and felt.

Fancy paper for making scrapbooks (that look nothing Pinterest at all, I don't buy the stickers etc, they all look too samey. Mine are full of whimsical drawings, doodles).

Turn of the century postcards.

1910s/20's/30's ceramics, anything that looks art deco but faded. I have some lovely big (from charity shop) plates that I put biscuits on when I have guests.

Small zippered bags: I sew and have little bags for: receipts (Xmas presents, clothes, electrics - in case something is faulty or needs to go back, it stays in my bag); one for doggy poo bags; one for handbag bits (lippy, tissues, nail file etc); one is a mini pencil case; a couple of giant pencil cases I have at home... So many more!

I bought these last weekend at a flea market, 10p each. They'll be framed.

Mugs and water bottles. I currently have 11 personal drinking vessels in my office.

Horehound · 02/10/2019 11:24

Och. I don't have a thing!

What could I pick?

Rivkka · 02/10/2019 11:29

Anything shiny

pooopypants · 02/10/2019 12:49

Snap for yarn. I buy it with the intention of crocheting something but usually get sidetracked and never get round to it

Free kindle books - I subscribe to a daily newsletter which tells you about free and reduced ebooks. Download. Never read them. Rinse and repeat!

KnitFastDieWarm · 02/10/2019 12:55

Replica viking artefacts

I want to hear more about this! Do you have a replica lewis chess men set?

I’m another yarn hoarder. It brings me great joy. I also collect 1940s knitting patterns, sewing stuff, and hair accessories. I just love emphemera and fortunately I work in a museum as part of my PhD so I get to indulge this love frequently!

This website is amazing, it’s like Aladdin’s cave theswagmansdaughter.com/pages/categories

HPLikecraft · 02/10/2019 13:22

I’m currently crocheting a dick and balls

Ah, that’s interesting. On my old laptop I have links to lots of rude knitting and crochet patterns: hairy minge cushion, hats with willies and balls, vulvas etc. Never got around to actually making any!

Another of my “things” is animal egg cups. Oh, and Christmas tablecloths. Have to be second hand.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 02/10/2019 13:57

Slippers, socks and dressing gowns.

To a lesser degree, woolly hats and gloves too!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 02/10/2019 13:59

Bras, handbags and vases but bags mainly

TheRaccoonLandlord · 02/10/2019 14:01

Mugs and socks. It’s a nightmare.

DaysLikeThis1 · 02/10/2019 14:03

Notebooks, sketchbooks, art materials (enough charcoal to last two lifetimes)
Wish I had more time to make use of it!

BogglesGoggles · 02/10/2019 14:06

Nothing. I spend ages deliberating over every single purchase (is it a good way to spend my money? Do I have room for it? How long will it take to wear through it? And so on). I think it’s a reaction to my husband who buys the same crap over and over again with no where to store it. I used to buy a lot of books, bras and tea before he mentally scarred me.

SoundofSilence · 02/10/2019 14:14

I am a sucker for a reference book. The great shame is that I often never read them. It's like I assume the information can enter my mind just by sitting on a bookshelf in my house.

Drabarni · 02/10/2019 14:17

Old books, scarves for hair, not to wear round neck.

OpiesOldLady · 02/10/2019 14:31

Cacti and succulents - i have a houseful of plants and i love them. Also anything with Cacti on - i have sets of cacti mugs and glasses.

Dia des los muertos - i adore day of the dead things. Skulls, decorations. I even have tattoos.

Frida Kahlo - i adore her. Her art and her in general. I went to the exhibition of her clothers at the V&A museum last year and fell totally in love. She's my inspiration.

Books. Everywhere.

RedWineForMePlease · 02/10/2019 14:40

Fridge magnets

Everywhere I visit I must buy a fridge magnet - even if I've been there once, or many times. I don't feel like it's a proper day out if I haven't come home with one!

Shannith · 02/10/2019 17:40

Rescues animals. Only have two at the moment but I'd have loads more.

Used to be cookery books and now I think of it jugs and turquoise ceramics from charity shops.

AnyFucker · 02/10/2019 17:42

Slippers

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/10/2019 17:59

Language courses and grammars.
I regularily check second hand book sellers for them.

thespellhasbeenbroken123 · 02/10/2019 19:28

It used to be costume jewellery
But now I have kids that's all stored away and my new thing is....

BABY CLOTHES
Oh god I can't cope myself
Mostly second hand/bargains and vintage
I just love it

ReginaGeorgeous · 02/10/2019 19:38

Used to be duvet sets but sadly haven't got any more room in the airing cupboard. Do love a good thread count.

Currently it's hand cream. Since Sephora discontinued my favourite, I've been searching for the perfect one. I've got six tubes on the go at the moment.
